If the mod community can do it with the tools they have, there's 0 excuse for our dev teams being this lazy after Shadowbringers has come and gone. And worst of all (if ANYTHING) the AF from ShB - DT should be the BARE MINIMUM of what all races should be able to wear.I always try to explain this to people. The ears are an issue for SE, yes, they seem to be weird about when they can clip and when they can't. But the more apparent issue with adding hats to this race is the hair. Race specific hairs don't have the rigging to change for when a hat is equipped. Most of the work is already finished for the other hairstyles that aren't exclusive to the race. This rigging should never have been handled like this in the first place let alon be ignored this long since shadow bringers. It's honestly just depressing at this point. I'm so tired of being told "we are working on it, please be patient." And then another two years ago by without anything. I just want to wear hats. Race specific hair or not.
Viera hat compatibility is tied to devs' lazyness and incompetence.
Maybe it's time they rewrite the code from scratch if they're having so many issues with the current one. I'm so tired of hearing the same excuses over and over again.
I'ts not even a code problem, other ppl have pointed out theres legit just a box to toggle for if at hat is shown or not.
It's definitely not a code issue.
It's a problem of them not initially adding any Morphers (or Shape Keys if you're a Blender user, it's what switches between the hat and no hat versions of any hairstyle) to the Viera and Hrothgar hairstyles when they originally made them and just adding additional hairstyles without doing that work either. So now they would have to make "hat compatible" versions of every hairstyle they added to Viera and Hrothgar again on top of making the functional hat models for the races.
Ultimately it's still on them though because they didn't bother to do the initial groundwork and are now just throwing their hands up because the required work increased tenfold.
It's even more frustrating becuase they do *everything* in steps anyway so they could've just started doing it and rolling it out in chunks like every other update instead of complaining that it's too much work. It's the third expansion in a row that they refuse to work on it.
Because it's free work done by someone else, so it doesn't cost them money, time and/or resources to apply a 'fix'.
Unless, of course, they start to have you pay for such QoL things. Then SE likely will drop a Cease and Desist on them, and we are back on status quo.
If anything they might profit off of it. Think about how many extra fantasias they can sell with people switching to one of the limited races, getting tired of how limited their options are, and deciding to switch back. They're only an issue because SE sees no financial benefit in putting in the extra time to make hats work for the newer races. It's the same reason why miqo'te ears are constantly cut off with most new hats. Easier to just tell people that it's too difficult, when in reality it's just cutting costs where ever they can. Players have long since fixed the issue that SE is unwilling to.
