We're reaching a point where PSO2 has more visual consistency than this game.Just fast forward the world into the cyberpunk-world you want it to be devs, there's absolutely zero reason for any rural villages to even exist in this game anymore.
We just rocked a spaceship into the end of the universe, just make Estinien into the "Eorzea's next talent" hip-hop poplock breakdancer you want him to be, and have Tataru be the DJ.
In my opinion, they are taking the "FFXIV is a Final Fantasy Theme Park" callout way too far. You need to think about how it affects your WORLD and ITS DEVELOPMENT, you know? WORLD BUILDING and INTEGRITY, CONSISTENCY. Just take out the chocobos to the back and put a bullet in them, and make everyone drive flying cars.
(This is a joke, but also it isn't a joke)

Now that the preliminary patch notes are out, this set has been shown in a similar way as the rank 25 sets released in 6.1, 6.3, and 6.5. Which means there's a significant chance that this really is the rank 25 set for series 7.Feared it was the battlepass reward. Went back to the 6.5 patch website, and the listed PVP gear is the trophy crystal outfit. Doesnt' seem like they've shown the BP rewards on the website.
Overall it's very much in line with the two times three sets we got some patches back.

This has to just be the new trophy crystal stuff, no way they're wasting a series reward coffer slot on this surely

Would not put it outside SE's ability to make the most basic outfit be a rank 25 reward.
If they're strapped for inspiration, why not look at past design contests for inspiration.
Something like this would stand out as an outfit in the game. And it isn't the edgelord type that the other outfits have, not the heavy armor type.
It's from the 2023 contest.

The 97 aiming gear is better.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of playing a fantasy game that's turning into a Shibuya Fashion magazine.
Some of the modern designs I didn't mind because they could be excused with the game's lore (Late Allagan PVP armor for example), or managed to fit the game's aesthetic because it was still armor (Ironworks Armor). Even some of the other stuff was OK because it was a fun joke like a lot of the Holiday glamours. But it feels like we're no longer playing a Final Fantasy game set in a High Fantasy world and were teleported into The World Ends With You.

Final fantasy have always been a mixture of fantasy and some other punk.Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of playing a fantasy game that's turning into a Shibuya Fashion magazine.

Except not. We have both gotten new medieval fantasy looking armours as well as the cyberpunk clothes, because both are themes of the expansion.

As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
