NEW PVP GEAR CAP (Viera and Hrothgar can skip this thread)

I suppose my opinion is unpopular considering the consensus here but I actually like that we are getting some non-edgelord PvP gear for a change.

I actually sort of agree with this sentiment. I'm glad it's not another heavy mail-esque armor set that doesn't mix-match with much else and really only compliments a handful of jobs (like RPR and DRK for the Archfiend, and Fending/Maiming jobs for the Monarchy and Tyrant sets). However, I'm glad for the heavy mail options for other jobs if they want it; Yoshi-P, Mr. "BLM-would-look-awkward-in-plate-armor" probably had a fit when/if he ever saw a BLM wearing one of the latter 2 sets.

However, as much as I appreciate/use the more... "casual" gear, I'm actually getting tired of seeing this aesthetic now basically shoved in our faces in nearly all outlets of content. It's like the existence of Solution Nine being shoehorned into DT's story is because the devs are tired of creating the classic fantasy aesthetics for gearsets (and it shows, based on the overused silhouettes they can't seem to break away from), and wanted an excuse to start creating gear for a completely different aesthetic genre like Phantasy Star Online, but are stuck working on FFXIV, so Solution Nine existing is their excuse to churn out modern Tokyo fashion every chance they get.

But no glamour unlocking for all roles, because BLMs would ruin it by wearing plate armor instead of Aloha shirts, mascot suits or bustiers and fishnets.

I hope hope hope this set is Wolfmarks or TC because I've been capped forever and you cant rank up your malmstone level without taking the current reward (I think its been like 3 months since I got Oppressor).
Also I love this because I feel like it as close as they can get to giving us Roxas' outfit without an official collab.

But ofc I do just wish we had a functioning headgear slot. I'm pretty sure they said they were working on addressing the h/v hat issue and so far it looks like that address if not actually giving us hats but instead the dinky little nothing bits attached to the hat.
Like the current ilv710 raid hats just give us glasses...like the facewear option, so not only are those headpieces worthless for glamour they conflict with our new eyewear toggle so...it really sucks that this is their solution after h/v have been in the game for 5 years.

I can certainly see some baseball influence. Which makes it more disappointing to me-- it's baseball-inspired fantasy yet in the most superficial way. No umpire plate armors or cage helms, no asymmetrical battle gloves, no iconic socks over pants, no tight long sleeved undershirt. Very trendy, safe, and contemporary.

Maybe they think this will get more people to try PvP? Just break the glass and add old PvP rewards already, we're starving.

Honestly no, mainly because it's just a mixmatch between like 2-3 sets from earlier parts of the game. Zero creativity.

While the current three rank 25 gear sets are very edgelord, they are also very striking. They do draw attention to the design and people will not confuse them with other gearsets.
Looking at this new streetwear outfit, it isn't as striking as and could easily get confused with the half-dozen other, similar outfits we have.

What I would like to see for a R25 rewards would be more cloth-armor so it's not always something on the heavier side.

Yeah there's an awful lot of real estate between heavy edgelord armor and... and something that people succumbed to as a fashion calamity 20 years ago.
