This LL helped remove any reservations I had about unsubbing. What an absolute joke.

Honestly, I am not even surprised - the writing that this patch would be a nothingburger was absolutely on the wall.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
That is interesting. I'm assuming sandbox is kind of like a PTR? While not directly related, it sounds like from what I'm reading is not so much the content, but better communication is what would help. I think that is very fair. Maybe as part of the 1st LL, they could go into more detail of what they are thinking and why. Maybe even acknowledge the feedback, and either explain how they are going to address it, or why they are going the route they are going. People might not like the answer, but at least they can't say the feedback is not being listened to.Warframe
Even with the last mainline pach, Koumei and the five fates, that was recieved as a bit lackluster. The communication they provide and insight into developement is light years away from any other Dev team
In XIV people complain classes are samey, radio silence
In Warframe people complain loki is useless nowdays, DE responds that they want to rework it but they are struggling with keeping its very unique playstyle, so they put it in the backburner while adjusting the other frames
In XIV people complain Relics in EW were too easy to get, radio silence
In Warframe people complained the Railjack and Necramech were too grindy and it felt like a bump in the road to get into the New War quest, DE responds saying they may have gone overboard, and resource creep is something they have to adress, lowered the requisites for those grinds and later they DID make a rework on resource costs (Ex: Vauban prime was on 15k Cryotic or something, so it was getting ridiculous to ask for new players to grind that much)
Even if its not direct content in the form of game modes, the patches they do to the sandbox, such as, the rework of how enemy armor works, the rework to all pets that were outdated, adressing how "Charm" made other pets redundant, ROTATING EVENTS WITH ACTUAL REWARDS THAT MATTER, etc... makes it so the game feels fresh despite not having the most content filled updates
Sandbox changes are usually overarching changes to the environment you're playing in.
As Raraka said, it would be something like how enemy armor works because it affects everyone.
In XIV it would be something like increasing the tomestone cap or increasing item drop rates for example, because it affects everyone engaging in PvE content.
Or if we want to take an example from the past it would've been the removal of the Accuracy stat, essentially removing hit chance from the game.
Was this a separate environment, or the live game? Sandbox to me means something different as a developer. Sandbox means it's a place where I can test changes to see how they work in action versus how they work on paper. I'm sure we've all had things we thought sounded great, but once you started actually seeing the changes, ended up scraping them because they didn't pan out the way you thought they would.Sandbox changes are usually overarching changes to the environment you're playing in.

I'm sure they test these changes within a developer build before the updates go live, but in this case the sandbox is just the world, and all it's attached systems, that the game exists in.
Let's take Destiny 2 for this, since I have a better understanding of that game than I do of Warframe.
A PvE sandbox change in D2 would be something like "Increased damage of Hand Cannons against combatants (PvE enemies) by 30%" because it affects everything within the sandbox, meaning dungeons, raids, open world content, etc.
As opposed to more specific changes like "Reduced the damage of X boss in Y dungeon".

Got it. So it's just changes (patches) to the game. What are changes they'd make that aren't considered sandbox then? It's not a test environment.

This is weird to me too, especially seeing people who defend Squenix no matter what using it as a gotcha against anyone with any sort of expectation for the game we're paying for monthly. "Yoship said to touch grass!" As if it's a personal fault to want new content in a live service game?
Can't wait to play Fantasia, that's probably where like half the dev-team focused on including Yoshi P and whatever other projects they had (I wont play it)
Can't wait to buy a 250 dollar bracelet of Grand Companies that arent even relevant in the game anymore and aren't being developed
Can't wait to buy FFXIV themed overpriced outdoor camping merch
Can't wait to buy FFXIV THEMED SHAMPOO
Can't wait for them to cater to the 5% playing endgame and not developing anything in the open world
What the hell is happening and how do we make it stop
