My subscription here ended yesterday because I decided I needed a break. Started playing WoW again a couple of weeks ago to see how it's changed. They've brought talent trees back - wonderful, I missed them when they took them away.

What they haven't changed is releasing patches full of bugs and ignoring most of them. Every single time I log onto one of my characters (or get disconnected from the game server - it's been worse for me there than people have been experiencing here) I have to reset my UI layout because the game only saves the layout itself without saving the layout to the character. Switch between zones held on different world servers (not the same thing as a world server here) and I seem to have a 50% chance of getting disconnected. End game gearing is an overly complicated mess for no good reason.

And I miss housing. Heck, I miss inn rooms. It's nice having that quiet place to myself to sort inventory, craft or create new transmog (glamour) sets without other player distraction. I've found myself retreating to my Garrison because there's no other private place to go to do those things and Garrisons were one of the worst things they had done to that game.

I will be coming back here after my break and I feel like that break is going to end sooner than I had planned. At least here I can sense the developers' love for the game even if they make some less than popular decisions or get hamstrung by budget restrictions. WoW feels like it's just a job for people, whether developer or player. If it weren't for running into some old old friends and getting to chat, I might have given up already.

For those NA players sticking around here only because of housing, join the demo suspension party. I doubt they'll enable again before January so you have a couple of months to do other things and decide if the game is still worth playing or it's time to give up your house and move on.
I'm enjoying a lot of the flavor (roleplay) in the game, so I give them a lot of credit for that. However.... on bugs.. I have teleported into absolutely nothing like three times in under two weeks, having to use the unstick service cause I was just falling in the sky unable to port out, a service I've never used in FFXIV, and had a few crashes unrelated to DDOS, some of it might be addon related but the default UI is usually less informative than FFXIV's so you feel compelled to have it.

So yeah.. they've got the motto of play hard and break stuff lol.

I actually really like my Garrison though, so disagree on worst thing.. though I know its a popular hate point for WoW.. Some of it we wouldn't mind though, as some of the complaints are like "people just teleported into the dungeons with the finder" and that's something we've been doing since ever. Or "makes my profession less useful" as they allowed players to multi-profession for that expansion, something we'd welcome. I understand some hate is contextual to the issues at the time- like I didn't play when there was a content drought with this content being forced for effective prog, PER all your alts + economy destroying gold mines (made worse by all the alts). With the short timers and original progression speed you had to babysit it a lot. Many elements not as bad- now, like the Garrison no longer breaks the economy (maybe nerfed too hard, but better than before- their alt system makes this type of thing easily problematic unfortunately).

I wish Island Sanctuary was as good as WoW's Garrison is currently. There is a lot more gameplay baked into it than our Island.
