The hypocrisy doesn't irk me as much as someone asking women who are qualified for their jobs to step down solely because of their biological sex. That's misogyny and sexism and it should have no place in the gaming industry. Being part of a minority is not a free pass to spread hatred against women.

Bridget also wasn't trans(I think ArcSys retconned it after that debacle with Strive), just a very feminine guy like Astolfo. "This character behaves more like a stereotypical member of this gender than this other gender, so they must be trans" is oddly traditionalist(for lack of a better word) thinking.

In a lot of way you gotta feel bad for women in general because it feels like they're under attack on all side:

    - The unequal treatment between male and female are well documented.

    - And you have the trans women - who is biologically male - start to powercreep and think they deserve better and more special treatment while tremble on the right of biological female like the bathroom issue, competitive female sport, and of course in this case where transwomen is entitled to biological women job (in the name of diversity) but not the other way around.

    - Than you have the feminist crowd that want to dismiss all the traditional value and strength of women because they believe that a strong and ideal woman is a woman who both look and act like men. Maybe I'm crazy or slow but ... isn't this like the biggest insult to women themselves?

So yeah, feel like no matter what direction the wings blow and where the needle move, women always seem to be the short end of the stick, it's sad. The saying "it's not easy to be a woman" feel even more true now than it was before.

Honestly wondering if there is some high-level executive meddling going on with someone telling them they have to make this character successful. They seem desperate for our opinions on her to change.

One thing is clear that WL is SOMEONE's favorite. Could be the writer's, could be Yoshi's (he said she's like a sister), could be some in the c-suits ... I don't think it's matter much tbh. What matter than in the last 30 years I have played a lot of games, watched a lot of movie and read a lot of books ... I can't recall a case when a character is obviously the favorite and it ends up well for that characters. Doesn't matter circumstance, role or even quality, they all end up being obnoxious one way or another.

I don't want this to be about identity politics, but here the pov of an old gay lol. When you get offline and actually get to know trans ppl, the vast majority just want to be treated as women, not trans women, not an "other", not as men. Which is why they want to be able to use women's bathrooms and compete in sports. They usually do not even refer to themselves as trans, but simply as women.

A lot of the issues arise when you have trans ppl (usually very young ones) who want to use their gender as a shield of a weapon. But, trans ppl do this, women do this, poc do this, cis ppl do this, white ppl do this. It is not exclusive to the trans community but is on a person by person basis. These issues used to be called out hard by the lgbtq community, but they have even started turning their rhetoric back on us, telling us we harbor "internalize homophobia", "internalized transphobia" or are simply transphobic and it has cause quite a break between the lgb and tq+ parts of the community, which is always framed as the lgb part being the bad guys because the rhetoric again is a weapon. There is simply no winning with ppl who use a small piece of who they are as their entire indentity and a way to basically throw a tantrum to get what they want. you see this in cis white on social media as well. They almost feed each other in this weird mutualistic relationship where as one grows louder so does the other and the real arguement is lost in the noise which causes a lot of confusion from those on the outside who then feel they need to gravitate to one side or the other causing the problem to worsen until it comes to a boiling point, which is close to what we have now. They literally prey on ppl wanting to be perceived as welcoming and supportive of diversity and it has been doing a lot of damage to the rights and protections that were already there and just caused a lot more brigading against them by people who want to feel correct and superior by using usually pseudoscience as their own shield. Ppl like this (on both sides) do not care, they do not care about their community, the do not care about other communities, they care solely about themselves and what they can get from it.

Now this does not excuse hate campaigns against them. But there is no difference between a trans person like Sena using their influence and someone like Charlie Kirk who does the same thing on the other side. So we just need to actually be able to think for ourselves and treat them both accordingly.

Fellow 'old gay' here. I was always very much of the live and let live philosophy. But when I was suddenly dragged into the culture war recently I was shocked to find there is a huge difference between older trans people and the newer folks.

Most trans people I knew when I was younger weren't cut off from reality. They were happy being themselves and didn't seem to need or demand that even complete strangers believe they were literally a woman.

I was dragged into it when my niece was devastated, she had to leave the sport she hoped to become a professional at because she just couldn't outperform the two biological males who joined the team. There were also many more injuries than usual and safety issues for young girls on the opposing teams.

I found out that was where my line was. I want people to be happy, and be themselves, but not at the sake of another vulnerable group (women). Anyone sane knows that hormones and surgery can't undo the advantage of different skeletal structure, faster muscle twitch, and larger hearts/lungs.

And the bathroom thing... after seeing some of the many sexually horrific 'gender euphoria' posts on social media (that seem to really get off on the lack of consent from those around them), I don't blame women for wanting intact males out of their changing rooms or toilet.

I know, but possibly maybe the CEO or someone or something that has more influence.
