It is it’s based off Mongolian gear I believe so it’s definitely lore appropriate but I’m still surprised square decided to actually go ahead with it
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
The DT Reaper artifact gear makes my character look like a drag queen. I don't wear it because of that, but I've seen plenty of people with male characters who are wearing it for that exact reason.
Funnily enough, the DT Black Mage artifact gear is damn near the only masculine caster clothing in the entire game.
Have you never looked at FFXIV gearsets before? It is almost invariably three designs spread across the seven roles, which either means two/two/three copies of each outfit or mix-and-matching the individual parts, all the way back to ARR.
I suppose if you want to be a Reaper, you must be ready to slay, in more ways than one.
After the ruffled curtains that was EW's white mage gear, I'm just glad that DT's White Mage clothing ended up respectable enough for a male priest to wear. The DT Reaper artifact gear makes my character look like a drag queen. Not that I think it'll do any good after so many years of complaining into the void with no improvement, but I'll add my voice to this: It's absolutely ridiculous and disgraceful that the gear designs are still being made so drastically different between genders after we've asked over and over and over for twelve years now for that to stop being the case.
And even more shameful that when we DO get 'unisex' designs, as others have pointed out, they are invariably drab and masculine and 'safe'. This shows that yes, they HAVE heard us and understand what we want, but are too afraid to do it properly, and instead choose to string us along with occasional low-effort things to keep us hopeful.
Add a toggle to existing gear with big gender differences. Or better yet, add more level 1 all-class glamour versions of popular gear (A FANTASTIC idea that was for some reason abandoned far too soon), but with separate M and F model versions so people can choose the one they want regardless of gender or job, since 'ooooh I wish I could wear this item but it's for a different role than mine' is at least as common a complaint as gender differences.
This has been the life of aiming, striking, and scouting most of the time for ages now. Carbon copies of each other just with different colors and sommmetimes very minor changes. Seeing these new sets really upset me. The one time I wish aiming had shared with fending, we didn't. We only share with tanks when their gear is ugly and/or full of armor that doesn't fit how agile aiming is supposed to be. I'm also so sick of gender-neutral pieces for aiming. Can I please get something more feminine for my female character? SE, please (T_T)
The Glamour Effect: That awkward moment when you realize you know FFXIV's gear pieces better than your own wardrobe X'D
I'll add my hat into the pile for a toggle. I have never appreciated the gendered differences between the same gear (shorts on men, panties on women or pants on men, booty shorts or pencil skirt on women or normal armor on men, gigantic belly hole on women). I'm not the kind of girl who enjoys that type of clothing to begin with and it's often been a thorn in my side when trying to create glamours since the system released in ARR. Coming across a pair of pants or shirt that I think would look great for a glamour only for it to morph into a completely different item because I had the audacity to be a different sex.
I'm not here to try and deprive anyone of their glamours showing as much skin as they desire but I'd like to not be caught in the crossfire of being deprived of having the option to show less skin. Toggle please. Let those who want booty shorts and what-have-you have the option while those of us who enjoy pants can have pants.
I correct me if I am wrong but the cloth are based from the game they are from if they are I sadly see them changing depending on sex of the character.
But!!!! I do agree on a option to be able to change the piece into the other gender.
But sadly if it have to happen I do think it will happen in a expension update not a mid patch(for older gear) but I agree the toggle when?
