We are a tight-knit shell and talk about our personal lives a lot. That's not something we can really do in other shells due to fear of being kicked or ridiculed—which has happened on several occasions.
A big THANK YOU to our supporters.![]()

@Neko_Yanagi
*Looks at gif* But I don't want a slow sarcastic clap. I don't want it! ;_;
@Pulseczar
Does that really happen? That seems mean to kick people for that =(

Here is the problem we run into in our society. Straight is always acceptable, and doesn't make anyone uncomfortable, and very rarely does anyone hold prejudice against them. Homosexual/Transexual/Transgender individuals are not always as accepted. Because of people who do not understand them, or are prejudice, it's hard for a player to be completely open and honest about who they are when they don't know folks personal views on their orientation. It does not affect their ability to stab/nuke, but it does affect moral and our family atmosphere when everyone knows that everyone in the shell completely accept each other, no matter who they are.Crass as he was, the man's got a point: why specify "LGBT-friendly?" Are you implicitly straight-unfriendly?
Does gender/orientation affect one's ability to stab/nuke in the game?
Are your members' sexual orientations that important to your LS activities and interactions? If so, wouldn't that be less "LGBT" and more "RP?" Or, again, is there a bias towards LGBT-themed RPing?
Being welcoming of members regardless of gender/orientation/whatever is one thing. Wearing it on your sleeve is something else.
(Hell, it's something someone running a linkshell full of "lesbian manthras" would say...)
When it comes to RPing, a role-player may not feel very comfortable with us because we are very honest about who we are irl, and we play as that person. Our conversations do often turn to our real lives, our families, our jobs, our loved ones. We like to think of each other as friends irl, even if only through our digital interactions.
I wish I could say "We accept everyone!" But we do not accept trolls, racists, or those who use prejudice language. If you took a look at our rules, it's obvious who we want in our shell. We also only accept those who are comfortable with LBGT folks being 100% open about their sexuality. That, sadly, does not include everyone.
We are welcome of all genders/orientations/whatever but we also want people who are accepting of all genders/orentations/whatever. Sometimes the only way to get the message out is a short but effective manner. To simply say we are LGBT friendly.
I am a straight married female running the shell, and felt strongly enough to decide to run a LGBT-friendly LS because I really wanted a LS environment where everyone can love one another for who they are and can be themselves. It's just that simple ^.^
Yes, thanks to all the other LS leaders and friends of Lux who have showed their support and have even stood up for us. It means alot to us to have such valuable friends ^.^

It does happen, either because a player will "act" gay, or because they are gay. I know people that are forced to not talk about their real lives in LS chat in other shells because they are gay and they don't want "gay" talk in their shell.
We also receive a stigma as a LGBT-friendly shell. Even tho we are 50/50 straight to LGBT, we get called a LS full of "f*gs" and things of that nature. It does seem to some that maybe, we bring this upon ourselves, but we'd all rather be where we are in Lux Nocturna, than in a shell that has folks so severely intolerant of others.

I'm just trying to run a LS here buddy. And I was just answering your question, in the case that possible recruits were curious. Because this is a RECRUITMENT thread afterall. And I'm still unsure as to why there are so many people from other servers posting in my recruitment thread >.>
You asked if we were straight-unfriendly, I figured that would answer your question.

I'm a straight male looking for LS, a military veteran and FFXI veteran. Still single and looking :P I looking to join, please take care of me ^^*
I presume through this recruitment you can tell who the mature players are from the "kiddos" or mentally challenged or those lacking experience or common sense. Everyday online or IRL is a battle of wits and patience. I'm glad to see the leaders of a LS can take a hit and keep putting out their best! That's the kind of people I want to interact with, socialize and play with.
Understanding/ knowing your LS is the beginning of a great experience.

I need things to do in this game while I wait for parties, so I decided that I'll start following you guys around the world when I run into you. Yep, that's what I'm doing from now on...if I'm not lazy =P

Or you can also check our calendar on our website, you don't have to be signed up or anything to see it. It can change a little week to week, and for the "help night" if someone has said they are going to need help, I change that to what we are planning to do ^.^
If we are ever going to be doing something you need or something you want to help out with, just let us know ^.^
