If I'm reading this correctly, the new crafted weapons and armor are all going to REQUIRE that you NOT be in the job associated with that class to use them.

Notice how the Pugilist's Arms, Avengers, say "Requires: PGL" while the Garuda's Talons right next to displays the more familiar syntax, "Requires: PGL MNK." Same goes for all of the Heavy Darksteel items, "Requires: GLA MRD."

Are people really going to want to give up all of the abilities of their jobs just for these new items? I can see in certain situations where people still use their classes rather than jobs benefiting from this (using THM for safety and flexibility, or tanking on GLA for example) but I think in the vast majority of cases the answer would be no. Anyone else concerned by this?

but you are correct for the 4 new weapons
New recipes include weapons, armor, and accessories.
    * New weapon recipes planned for patch 1.22 are for gladiator, pugilist, marauder, and lancer classes only. Weapons for other classes are planned for release sometime after patch 1.22a.
    Which only 4 are available

    Yeah, that's what I said.

I just don't think anyone really expected the language "...for gladiator, pugilist, marauder, and lancer classes only" when we first got a preview would mean that the associated jobs would NOT be able to equip this stuff, until we saw the new patch notes. I just think this is going to make this stuff worth waaaaaay less than originally anticipated, given the trouble it will take to craft them and what will apparently be very limited usefulness. I wouldn't expect huge demand now.
