i mean they expect people to pay for it so a bit of work here would be nice. You can argue if its border you or not but fact is this was an item you get only for supporting this game period, there was no other way and this is what makes it problematic. If you take away something limited from players which makes an item less rare they will be upset.

They are not taking anything limited from anybody, they're making it accessible for everybody else that didn't get to preorder Endwalker back in 2021. It's not rare, it's quite literally a very small thing, and people who wanted it can now get it.
You didn't have to work for it in game to earn it either, you just had to preorder EW during that period. It's not an accomplishment. I don't think scarcity on an earring from 4 years ago is worth getting upset for.

It doesnt matter how usefull or old this item is or even how many use it. So my question is why not just make an item, a fresh one with the same buff ? I know now its to late for it but idk it feels scammy to see how this game offers old reused items for 7$ putting in 0 work into it and just take away the rarity of an pre order item. Think about it before posting BuT nEw PlAyErS.

It absolutely does matter actually. All it does is giving you an XP buff that stops at level 80. Not even 90+, 80. Aside from the original design, it absolutely is an outdated item. On top of that, it encourages players not to use leveling/story skips and actually play and access the content faster. There is no negatives to this.

I don't mind others having access to Menphina's earring, but I can understand the disappointment. If you think of pre-order earrings as a memento of a specific moment in time (in this case, the end of ShB and taking part in EW's early access), seeing them randomly pop up later, stripped of meaning, cheapens the memento.

This coming out around the same time Yoshi-P is asking players "not to retire" reeks of desperation. I would have to guess subscriptions have dropped rather heavily these last few months and revenue has taken a big hit.

They deserve to hurt with how badly they've been handling the game. Maybe they'll get their act together finally.

When you've made your multiplayer online rpg all about the one-and-done singleplayer story content for years, and then wonder why the people you've been marketing to are leaving when that story content isn't very good, imagine my shock.

I have the earring from the Endwalker pre-order, I don't have a problem with them selling it again years later. I got all my use out of it and so did probably everyone else who has it. That kind of item exclusivity shouldn't be permanent.

On the other hand, calling these pre-order bonuses "rare and limited" is entirely on the playerbase. They've never been advertised as anything other than "pre-order bonuses", never a mention of them being "absolutely limited, never obtainable ever again".
(Not to mention that these earrings are hardly rare anyway, with at least half a million characters having them lol)

While I don’t care for the earrings becoming available I can actually understand people being upset.
It’s like a smaller version of the veteran rewards becoming available for everyone.
It was a sign of “look, I play this game for a long time now” and no matter how important that is people are proud of this stuff.

I agree with another comment that they should have just made something different like a ring with the same effect.
Just leave people some form of acknowledgement for sticking with this game for years instead of just developing for new players nowadays.

I'm curious how people think that an item set clearly aimed entirely at new players is supposed to help them keep subscriptions from long-term players who would have little to no use for level 80 earrings anyway.

This isn't aimed at you specifically, it's just something I keep seeing in this thread and you're the latest person to post it. I just don't get the logic behind the idea.

And because I know how this forum is, I feel like I must point out: I'm not defending the bundle, or the cash shop in general. I can just.....walk away and not care about it. I'm just curious.
