I do find it quite fascinating because, at least in my experience, support mains in any game usually have a few DPS they can play but DPS players never do the same with support.thats something SE hasnt figured out yet.. that if a job isnt fun.. or somehow rewarding... no one wants to play it. and I agree, someone who mains DPS is unlikely to pick up healer because its a mindset, and trying force that square peg into a round hole just has never worked.
Maybe there is nothing to "fix" , or better "no fix could change your opinion"?
Although I think the dps could have a little more responsibility (I proposed it myself some time ago, with conflicting opinions) I don't think someone chooses to play a DPS class to avoid responsibility, but rather because everyone wants to be a striker and no one wants to be a goalkeeper.
In short, it is an unsolvable "trinity" problem.
I have 10,000 needles,
I'm not a weaver,
and I'm not scared to use them.
So if there is only a few goalkeepers and many strikers but the strikers only want to play strikers what’s the point of changing the goalkeeper position to better suit the strikers at the expense of the people who like being a goalkeeper when the strikers have fully said they don’t want to be goalkeepersMaybe there is nothing to "fix" , or better "no fix could change your opinion"?

Healers are boring because they spend most of their time spamming a single offensive ability.
It's a fundamental design issue I never encountered in any of the other MMOs I've played and one that's easily remedied by giving them more offensive abilities and/or changing how damage is structured in the average encounter so they actually need to use their GCD healing buttons outside of emergencies.
And who is changing anything? So if there is only a few goalkeepers and many strikers but the strikers only want to play strikers what’s the point of changing the goalkeeper position to better suit the strikers at the expense of the people who like being a goalkeeper when the strikers have fully said they don’t want to be goalkeepers
This is the striker asking the goalkeeper to be a striker.Healers are boring because they spend most of their time spamming a single offensive ability.

I mean yoshi p has explicitly said on many occasions they are designing healers to hope DPS players play them as well, ask long term dedicated healer mains and I doubt you’ll find many who prefer the modern slop over the old healers
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
Ok, but where is the meat, because this is chewing the fat. If/when there is something to discuss we'll discuss.

Many of the others playing tanks in roulettes are often just new/returning players that are tank mains (but only do story content). Plus, a lot of people will level their tanks jobs for completionist reasons despite not being good at them.
This is just the game really. Most dungeon tanks aren't likely to be that good - they never were in the past, and if they are any good now it's probably due to them being simplified/easier to understand. Getting more casual tanks into dungeons doesn't really make a difference and suits the game anyway tbh.
Anyone that seriously wants to farm materia would probably do hunt trains, or they can also do PvP or buy it.
I jump on healer for AIN for roulettes for the materia and fast queues. Main is DPS. I'd rather play healer on lower level content than my main because I get annoyed at not having all my abilities. I also regularly play tank. Not everyone only sticks to their favorite job.
if it matter that much... make a DPS. Heals and Tank... and go as needed all the time... it is very simple.
