You won't be low on materia ever except the first week or two after new materia is released. Because people behave stupidly on the market board, their prices also tank so hard so quickly that you can't even get decent gill selling. The best way to encourage people to play tanks and healers is to make the roles actually fun so that tank and healer mains feel motivated to play them. You won't get diehard DPS players to pick up the healing stick no matter how braindead you make the role.

thats something SE hasnt figured out yet.. that if a job isnt fun.. or somehow rewarding... no one wants to play it. and I agree, someone who mains DPS is unlikely to pick up healer because its a mindset, and trying force that square peg into a round hole just has never worked.

I do find it quite fascinating because, at least in my experience, support mains in any game usually have a few DPS they can play but DPS players never do the same with support.
