Yeah, Wuk becoming a Scion is just not in the cards. I really hope she disappears into the woodwork as we go on.I was telling my friend, there's no way in any of the seven hells Wuk Lamat is Scion material. She just isn't. She's adventurous, she's courageous, she's a leader, and while she's a little hoggy of the spotlight after she's had her turn, she's reliable. Her story is over. She became one of two leaders of her country. That's it. One, I don't see her dropping that, after all she said about becoming the next Dawnservant (about eighteen million times). Two, the Scions have no room for someone who gets f*** seasick the moment the boat rocks, or who gets all shivery if she's standing more than 10 feet above the earth.
It's not going to happen. It's never going to happen. She could, at most, be an honorary Scion, but she's not Scion material. She understands too little to be a Scion. If she really wants to be a Scion, she should go talk to Lyse beforehand.
I said the very same thing to my friend in that same conversation, haha. I want her do what Lyse did, and just stay out of my godsdamned way. I like Wuk Lamat, but I don't like her as much as the devs want me to like her. I don't freaking worship her. I will, at most, take her to dinner and maybe dance with her, but anything after depends on how well she sits back and keeps her freaking nose out of my business. She had some intestinal fortitude, asking me to stay with her, right in front of my Scion friends. Yet another reason she'll never be a Scion: she already tried to poach the Warrior of Light, right in front of them.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, the thing with Wuk Lamat asking the WoL to stay with her--for what reason, I'll never know--creates a headcannon for me that, as time goes on, various leaders will start asking the WoL to be with THEM, and it'll turn into a political issue that might scale into a conflict, so the only way to avoid that outcome is to have the WoL just go somewhere else.
Hint hint, SE. WoL. Go somewhere else.

If they make her one, it be time to uninstall the game and move on. I really can't stand her and hope she just disappears.

To tell you the truth, I've been wondering why this topic hasn't cropped up in the story. Way back in ARR, we had the Grand Companies beating down Minfilia's door to get us to join their forces. It only make sense the various leaders want the Warrior of Light for themselves since we appear to be the only one. (I might be wrong about that last part.)*snip*

I don't know. Go through their promos on social media, she's very, very absent after being front, center, and in your face all expac. I think they know they really stepped in it with her and she's going to get pushed way to the back story-wise and maybe get the occasional unvoiced quest dialogue. In-game it might not be reflected for a couple patches, but I doubt we see much of her after 7.2.Look, I don't downright hate Wuk Lumat, but she certainly didn't win me over, either. I see a lot of folks hoping that after 7.3, they pivot away from her and fast. Still, I also worry, knowing the outspoken history of the VA Sena Bryer and the framing that all criticism is an attack on the VA, that SE, for optics reasons, doubles down on this character and makes her a Scion.
And somehow, I see plausibility in that, with Wuk Lamat's adventurous nature and desire to always help people, she could be a fit within the ranks. Plus, Kona has more leadership qualities than she does, so he could hold down the fort in Tural.
I think I'd quit.
I know you mentioned Koana, but his VA is pretty obnoxious, too. I think that's what you're looking at when you hire Americans that are voice actors first and foremost rather than stage or screen actors that'll do voice work as side gigs.
I find this thread to be... hypocritical.
I recall people saying that Alphinaud and Alisaie were annoying characters as well and they better sod off after Heavensward. Tadah, they're now a mostly beloved and okay part of the team after some more character development. Sure people still dislike them (cuz you can't please everyone ever) but they're still a solid part of the story right now.
To just outright prevent character growth for Wuk Lamat is basically just saying "I don't want them to fix this, I want them to make Wuk Lamat stay with this bad narrative design so I can keep on hating on her".
Character development's totally fine, if it's done through good writing. I think Lamat was a victim of bad writing. Would it sound less hypocritical if I said I'd like her to F off until she gets a decent writer?I find this thread to be... hypocritical.

Bad writers can turn into good ones as well. And good writers can also make some missers in their narrative choices.
I'm hoping with the outcry that has happened in dawntrail, the writer(s) learned from it and will improve. Because yes, I also think the writing was worse than what I was used to. It's whatever though.
It's just a character. Just a story.
If they make Wuk Lamat a scion, it opens the door for more character development. It's not an inherently bad narrative decision, but how well it works is entirely dependent on how well it is written. And you won't know if it's good or not until it happens. So might as well just shrug, let it happen if it does happen, and deal with it. Being all negative upfront is just such a waste of time and mental energy.

This sound more like pulling for straw tbh. First, there is always some people who complain about characters, just like even now there is a few who will defend Wuk Lamak. But what you're doing is to cherry pick a few minority and over-generalize it to pretend it's a common sentiment. The twins - up until now have always been on the positive side of the community because they have always been consistently well written. Yes there are instance when they were annoying, but that's because they're meant to be annoying, unlike WL who consistently annoying even when she's not supposed to.I find this thread to be... hypocritical.

There is a reason why WL is often compared to Lyse, because they're "comparable". You're like the first person try to draw a conection between WL and the twin, and that's grabbing at straw because of how nonsensical that comparison is.
