Wuk lamat future writing can be done better but I don't think they'll bother a lot.

So this is heavy speculation but seeing Bakool Ja Ja on the 7.1 art is weird. While the character is enjoyable, it's a surprise to see him getting a more important place in the patch.

It's more likely that he was always the next up to get a deep dive into character development.

He's one of only two notable Mamool Ja to survive the MSQ, and the other one's a child. It was pretty much a given he'd be back.

Fighting the beasts of the New World, such as Turali Vidraal. Her moment of growth was meant to be fighting Bakool Ja Ja, where she had to dig deep and not be a pushover which she kinda knew she was against him.

But anyway, I didn't so much want her as a scion, necessarily, but as a travel companion on the basis that it'd mean we wouldn't need to continue having the scions around, which some of us are tired of.

Honestly, even if it had been planned (which I highly doubt, btw) to make Wuk Lamat part of the WoL's entourage, knowing Square Enix, they won't after all this negative feedback, and I think Lamat suits better staying in Tural, lest she tries to bring us back and force us into that administrative position.
Lamat wanted to become Dawnservant. She has become Dawnservant. And once the last bits about Gulool Ja are resolved, her arc is finished, and there is nothing more to be done with her character.

Though it would be interesting if we could bring Bakool Ja Ja with us in the future :think:

It's easy to forgot that the Scion are all Ph.D and/or top expert of their field, not just a circle of goodie two shoes. It's actually a rare instance in gaming (especially in JRPG) where the good guys actually have some serious teeth, and not just a random gathering of hobo making stuff happen with the power of friendship. If anything Wuk Lamat is a throw back of that overused and tiring trope and no wonder why it doesn't looks right.

So unless you need someone to eat taco or someone who possess primal-tier level of tempering others into joining cheer-leading squad, Wuk Lamat doesn't fit.

Not quite on the first part. The Scion of seven dawns is a combination of the Circle of Knowing led by Louisoix and Path of the Twelve led by Milfina. The Archon are the half that make up the scion but they have non Sharyan-related members as well.

But ever since after the Walking Sand massacre (that I think killed off most of the original Path of the Twelve members), they have been very strict about new member.

- Alphinaud actually did finished his Archon thesis (the youngest who did so), it's just between all that happen he never officially conferred it. But consider the fact he was nominated to charter the constitution of the Company of Eorzia, he's probably the top diplomat in the world.

- Alise is the main person responsible for finding the cure to tempering.

- Estinien is an ex-Azure Dragoon.

- Tataru can go toe to toe with members of the syndicate and run a freaking business enterprise. She's like a female version of Totorito but on our side.

- Riol was an ex-Companies of Hero, one of the few non-echo group that can take down primal prior to the rise of the WoL.

- Arenvald probably is the lowest one on the power meter, but even him is a capable echo warrior who can go toe to toe with primal being during the EW crisis.

Comparing to them, WL is like a highschool graduate standing next to an NASA engineer.


Also, I think one of the most important requirement to become a Scion is you have to be strictly neutral because their mission is to safeguarding the entire star, not interests of nations. That's why Lyse had to leave the Scion when she decided to join the Ala Mihgo resistance. There is no way a head of state can become a Scion because that'll be a massive conflict of interest.
