    Unpopular opinion here but I didn't hate Wuk as a character. I liked them and the voice acting. To me, it is the STORY that is super boring. It needed to be better written it is like something a 5th grader wrote. I am sure people will complain I didn't bash Wuk and get mad ragey that I told the truth about the writing but in the end - it is my opinion. From my point of view, all the writing SHOULD HAVE been far better. Stormblood is still my favorite story.

    It takes to long for new content.
    I can only do the same content for so long then waiting

    It seemed we got more content in 2.x in shorter times
    Now it feels less and less with waiting longer.

    Even my hubby is no logging in as often.
    In the last 4 weeks we played maybe 8 hours vs our normal 2 to 3 hours a day

    If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
    If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
    If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

    Only if they should be getting a commendation.
    There are always exceptions to the rules!

    I don't think Yoshi-P actually cares why people leave, especially if people aren't unsubbing at anything approaching an alarming rate. If this thread wasn't just made off of some baseless hearsay, and Yoshi-P actually cares why people leave/unsub, they'd actually compile feedback, especially ones from forums with a lot of "likes" and discussion. Instead, every time they mention "feedback" in recent live letters, we're left scratching our heads wondering how they got that particular kind of feedback. "Our battle team's lead's auntie's husband's best friend's nephew who logs on twice a year thinks healing is too stressful, so we took that feedback into consideration.." So if this is the newest and hottest "dunk on the state of XIV" thread, I guess I'm overdue to say my piece.

    I'm old enough to remember when they came out of the left-field one day and were like "we got feedback that it's too hard for people to gear their alt jobs from alliance raids, so we're getting rid of 'Need' so people can play whatever they want in alliance raids and still have a chance to outroll people actually playing the role..." Like, what the actual F? The forums on both NA and JP blew-up. But by that point it was too late, and we had to deal with it for a couple of weeks before they reverted that decision. But that incident made me think: "who are they actually taking feedback from?" "who are they trying to placate?" At that time nobody could find any thread on the NA forums saying they wished there was no "Need" in alliance raids, especially not with enough support behind it to cause a change. So I'm actually under the impression that a lot of times the devs don't look at the playerbase's actual feedback until they do something that they've already had a mind to go through with, and only then pay attention to reactionary feedback, and when/if it's overwhelmingly negative, shrug their arms and scratch their heads that the playerbase doesn't like something they did.

    The devs are way too comfortable in whatever this content formula is. So much so that people have been accurately mapping out entire expansion cycle's patch content for several expansions now. So comfortable, that there barely seems to be any effort going into dungeons; which is essentially like a third of this game's "endgame" content. I'm dreading the upcoming patches, because then we'll be back to running 2 dungeons for months on end instead of the oh-so-slightly-more variety of 3. Their content has an extremely short shelf-life, and most dungeons and raids/trials are beaten into paste by the 3rd week, not leaving much else to do. You either go hard on new content in the 1st few weeks or enjoy sitting in PF wondering where everybody is. Chances are everyone else is over it/already got what they wanted and can't stomach a 75th run of the same scripted dance. Because we're starved at endgame for content. I can't help but roll my eyes every time they talk about how they streamlined ARR content for the 5th time, or how they added new NPCs to Duty Support for content that's half a decade old. For a while they seemed more interested trying to entice new players with options for solo'ing instead of retaining their current ones and giving us endgame content that lasts longer than a few weeks.

    We essentially feel like an online lobby game with a heavy focus on dressing-up our paper dolls, disguised as an MMORPG. Yet they are incredibly reluctant to embrace the latter part and own it; which is why we have the 2 newest races unable to equip most headgear (even ones that shouldn't be an issue), and their producer running incredibly weak cover for not universally unlocking glamour options like most other online games (even this game's way older brother, XI), under stupid excuses like "we don't want BLMs using axes" or "BLMs would look weird in plate armor..." Like bruh, if your spaghetti code is so tangled and ingrained that you couldn't begin to figure out how to let people glamour a 6 year-old aiming set on a healer, then at least be upfront about it.

    IMO, they should stop adding new jobs. We should have stopped adding new jobs maybe as far back as EW. I get the distinct feeling the bloat is negatively impacting everything from streamlining and homogenizing toolkits in the name of "balance," to the time it is taking them to design new weapons for every single job. A part of me feels like AST got gutted to give DNC a "niche." I also feel like AST and SCH had to lose parts of their identity just so SGE could exist. And though I don't play it, BLM, which I always seemed to hear was one of the better-designed playstyles/toolkits throughout expansions, seems to have finally hit a snag... As PCT moves in.

    Yoshi-P recently said something along the lines of jobs are going to be looked at in regards to identity in 8.0? Hah! I'm still waiting to see what he did in DT about the content seeming "too comfortable" back in EW... The variable AoEs and and such in some of DT's fights and raids are a step in the right direction (even if they still are scripted and predictable), but I hope he doesn't think adding cheap mechanics like the Swoletender boss' surprise growing AoEs that loses it's edge after fighting him once or twice, or making players fight the game's bad netcode from the Strayborough's 1st boss are the "solution."

    I could go on, but I see a lot of other posters already listed a lot of my other grievances. Thank goodness I still have the hope of the next alliance raid hitting me sufficiently in the nostalgia.

    Part of it may be the world feels empty (except for main cities).

    I am just now finishing up the MSQ, but waiting over two hours to try and fill a party for the final trial, even as a tank. If there is no one else to play with, you can't really do content without others outside of NPC dungeons.

    No PC versions on release. "Go play other games" instead of making new content and innovating your cash cow MMO that HAD a peak goodwill streak. Square Enix hates money. Now that goodwill is fading and they are "on the attack" by doing multiple different projects instead of future proofing FFXIV properly and paying back that goodwill.

    Im sorry, but by trying to live in the past of console exclusive releases youre actively taking a fireaxe to your profits and burning money.

    Japan needs to get over its console phase and embrace PC. I said it. Its a country both in the future and in the past at the same time.

    exactly, same shit with fandoms that eventually die because of the same rhetoric, "if you dont like it, dont watch/play it" then the season/series/movie/game franchise melts into nothing and met with "you guys killed X thing because you didn't consume the content" lmao

    I can just repeat what was already said. Copy paste the same stuff and formula again and again gets very boring at some point after several years. And the new story was not 'low stakes'. It was just not well written. That's my honest opinion about it.

    Additionally long term players get frustrated that so many problems got not solved over so many years. Viera have still no hats and male midlanders still don't even have a normal visible belly-button. The glamour system is still a mess and healers seem to be a joke for them. The list is very long.

    So it's a mixture of boredom and frustration for a lot of people. And the patchcycles are meanwhile much too long. Waiting so long, and then not much interesting content.
