why does it matter to you, you're not connected because you don't connect during a DDoS anyway. It's not like not connecting will make the DDoS attack stop faster...

No you arent my dad, Yoshi P will fix it just trust on process.
Lets just never login ever again!, there can't be a ddos if there's no people
A DDoS is a distributed denial of service. The keyword here is DISTRIBUTED. It means there are A LOT of requests to the server all at once, which OVERLOADS the server.
.
When you login after being disconnected during a DDoS attack, you are CONTRIBUTING to the problem. You are OVERLOADING the server as well.
.
When there is a DDoS massive disconnection, stay calm and WAIT for 10 minutes before logging in again. The reason WHY DDoS disconnects can happen for hours is because EVERYONE is logging in at the same time after the first DDoS, and that causes ANOTHER DDoS. So PLEASE STOP.

No, I absolutely love seeing the huge queues and hoping I'd get that sweet sweet 666 queue (got it before).
This. Any user log in attempt, even if there's 3k in queue, are not the issue. That request to join the queue is just a single request. Then, once the server knows you're there, you're kinda just idle with a connection to the server until they pull you in.I wouldn't tell people not to log in because they're contributing to the problem (they aren't). During a DDOS, the log in servers are getting hit by several times over the number of actual players that want to log in. The player log in attempts are like a drop of water in a gallon jug.
I would tell them to wait to log in because they're probably going to get kicked from the servers again even if they manage to connect. Take the time to move around and stretch their legs, get some water, take care of other little things that need attention.
A DDoS would be like, sending a join request at the upper limits of what the server can handle distributed across a (probably) botnet. We're talking 100k, 100m, or above requests. Regular users don't -really- need to worry about their impact on the server. It's built for you.
Can we get Square to postpone Demolition again due to the DDOS attacks? People can then unsub and not login to help![]()
WE pay money for the "privilege" of playing this game.
So WE should be ABLE to PLAY the game.
If they can't handle that, then THEY need to SHUT DOWN the servers temporarily and REFUND our subs.
It is BENEFICIAL FOR THE GROUP if I am ALLOWED to REMAIN inside the LEY LINES.

On May 16th 2024, Creative Studio III made the decision to terminate the existence of non-standard Black Mage. The impact of this decision on the job's population will be negligible.

It is SELFISH to log in and clog the servers EVEN MORE when there's a DDoS.
A DDoS is a DISTRIBUTED attack. That means the attacks come from MULTIPLE IPs.
You, as a player, is yet ANOTHER IP.
So when you log in during a DDoS, you ARE participating in the DISTRIBUTED denial of service attack.
