You think wrongly. Go through your list of craftable dyes, any with a "Shop sale price: none" are only craftable. By my count there are 20. There are another 5 that are "Shop sale price: 216 (restricted)" meanning that they come from tribal vendors. None come from the dyemongers.

But yes, more colors would be nice.

There are a couple of exceptions where craftable dyes are purchasable: specifically the Ixal crafter tribe vendor, whose dye range is (somewhat fittingly) craftable rather than exclusive. But they only sell a few specific colours.

Overall, you are correct that everything basically comes from one source only. There's the range that comes from the dyemonger, the range that is crafted, the range bought from ARR beast tribes and the range from venture coffers/Mog Station with basically no overlap. Now they've added the fifth range of dyes that are obtained from "special currencies" (Firmament scrips, Island cowries, Fall Guys event) and it's no different to the others.

It would be nice if everything became craftable though, perhaps at higher levels and with more material cost if it needs to be kept more exclusive. Maybe make the recipe expensive to make up for the convenience of being able to craft it on the go.
