I get that its hard, its a japanese game with a large western fanbase which includes a lot of different languages and cultures outside of just the Anglosphere and Japanese community but hearing voices from different players for every facet of the game is needed as long as its feedback that can have data collected from it.
Totally agree, but honestly, it feels like that would take a lot more effort and an actual commitment to improving the game.

I mean, take the two mobile games I play, for example – they send out surveys every few weeks to gather feedback and figure out what's working and what needs tweaking. It's crazy to me that free-to-play/freemium developers are putting in more effort to keep their players happy than CBU3, which is part of a huge, multi-billion dollar company. It’s like they don’t see the value in getting that direct input, and it shows.

As I recall wasn't there a Twitter announcement years ago where Yoshii P said he won't listen to what the playerbase suggests because if he did and he put them all into the game it would create a monstrosity? It seems completely ghosting your playerbase has also done the same thing.

Gaius van Baelsar: Nor is this unknown to your masters. Which prompts the question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?

Generally, it does feel a lot like they just refuse to take feedback and people are stopping giving them chances...

Playing dev(il)‘s advocate for a second here but isn’t it more like, ‘part of a huge multi-billion dollar company… that siphons off a huge portion of its profits and gives tiny scraps back in return’? lol

I wish if they release actually good products but wtf are we getting? Censored DQ? Forspoken? Multiple failed projects?

Ask 100 persons do a servey if they would like to play your game from their descriptions

There should be studies about the viability of the project in the first place!

I find myself playing less each week. I really loved the game and playing with my wife in some grand adventure. But it's just grown kinda stale and feels like a weekly chore with no direction or goal. I'll likely not quit (again) but mostly because of being held hostage by housing demolition.

After you cap tomes, get your savage done, then what? That's kinda where we're at.

Leveling battle jobs is a one time thing, leveling crafter/gatherers can be done in hours..

What is left? Grind FATEs? No thanks..

I wish there were also more surveys in general. Square Enix has me by the balls because idiot me bought a medium a few years ago which I don't want to lose would I take an extended break and cancel my sub for a while.

Yoshi P is a PR master, not a game dev.

Only thing keeping me playing atm is my FC, and even they are starting to wane.

I love(d) this game, but if they are going to be so adamant on not listening to players and giving the money I PAID to play THIS game over to some garbage project that will never see the light of day, then what's the point?

My sub is being held hostage by community, housing and the best rp mechanics / looks in any MMO. But gameplay in this game is babyshoes and barely an MMO. I'll give it a good chance until 8.0 for the patches to roll out, to see what they have on offer and MAYBE if they don't ruin this game I'll keep subbing for good will as a glorified RP simulator.

Currently playing Turtle WoW which is a private server that is well balanced and continues the story of vanilla WoW, free and I don't have to give Blizzard any money.

Best iteration of an MMO by far, I played the actual vanilla back years ago. Let me tell you what a MMO from 2004 has over this impostor of an MMO.

    - Interesting, slow leveling process where each dungeon along the way is a new experience and a chance to better your gear for easier leveling and getting big exp from dungeon quests. GEARING MATTERS

    - Vast open world without any INVISIBLE WALLS and NO FLYING MOUNTS so you can actually experience the world

    - Varied classes, with their own utility, different talent trees and things they are good at. Ranging from mages being able to create portals for everyone for fast travel and teleport themselves ,to conjuring food and drink, rogues opening locks in the world and lockboxes etc.

    - GEAR matters, you can make CHOICES, you can VARY YOUR PLAYSTYLE

    - Each NPC greets you with a small voiceline. Small, but impactful

    - Long sweeping questlines that end up in an attunement (permission to enter a raid) or culmination of a storyline and suitable powerful reward for completing it.

    - THE OPEN WORLD IS DANGEROUS and you always feel challenged by it, but can master it. Every potion, every buff, every world buff, every little gear addition, enchantment helps along with this. Chugging potions, bandaging yourself, using your classes survival abilities feels like an accomplishment.

    - RANDOM DROPS from mobs, making professions useful, grinding materials for high end items takes TIME and effort, recipes.

    - The music has always been hit and miss for me in FFXIV, at best it's an amazing spectacle, where it captures you body, heart and soul. At worst it's a jolly band advertisement for the Primals which doesn't fit at all into the game. WoW mostly has atmospheric music, that fits the surrounding, and it immerses you.

Could go on and on, but what FFXIV has over this is graphics, spectacle and story, the latter kinda dwindling.. lately and rp mechanics. Why even bother having an open world when you barely use it? 90% of houses remain closed, I'd rather have janky helmets and hats for Viera/Hrotgar than none at all. End of rant, FFXIV isn't an MMO, it's a spectacle rollercoaster ride with a good story and good world (I hope they don't ruin this) with a lacking, IMMENSELY LACKING road up to endgame, no gearing, no working your way up, ending up in a dodging simulator spectacle with you pressing one rotation over and over and over and over again.
