That storyline really made no sense... Somehow every single one of the Hanuhanu forgot about the magic, but then there's Wuk Evu who knows all about it but just decided to never tell anyone about it and just lets them suffer.
Huh, the character in the screenshot literally knows about it. The effects just gradually declined over the years because they didnt maintain the boat properly. It all came to a head when the storm devastated the village. The actual dumb move is this idiotic rite of succession coming from a ruler whose only qualities lie in fighting and conquest, not in actually ruling. Gulool Ja Ja isnt even a good father. Most problems boil down to him rather spending his time looking for sparring partners than adressing the problems his nation or his family was facing. Which makes him an interesting character imo and probably the kharmic reason why he had to die in the story.
