ah..so its mean you can prove seasonal event hinder dev progress on fixing FUNDAMENTAL of the game?You want to argue that these updates don't hinder progress in other areas, prove it. Because it looks like they're failing to produce to everyone else. Do you have any idea how lolzy this announcement is to the gaming community at large? To hint that companies are coming next only to produce another stupid holiday event? This game is the laughing stock of the MMO world, and this is exactly why. Rift came out with a better launch product than this game has in 6 months of retail patching, and THIS is the content we get. It's bad publicity. No holiday event, at this point, is better than another stupid, pointless one because releasing a celebration when this game is a DISASTER makes it look like the developers are sitting around on their decadent asses making petty crap while they should be doing more important things to stop a blight.
Nero fiddles around while Rome burns. That's the image the devs are giving people by releasing petty quest and trifling holiday events right now.
In every department this game needs fixed, even in the same areas that they spend time on in the holiday events. They make new animations for holiday events, the old animations are pathetic. They make new gear for holiday events, we need more real gear. They balance the synthesis of pointless things, we need balance of significant synths. Everything they spend time on making holiday events...we need improvements on in the *actual* game world.

A. If the code is properly documented that was handed over to someone else as every programmer is different and have a different coding technique that you don't know what affects x parameter.
B. What calculations are needed between the various type in order for say Shell or Protect to work properly, which as you probably don't know, the attribute system in this game is horribly unbalanced. If Shell is to reduce magical damage, you have to test your new algorithm in various situations which alone can take hours.
It's not as simple as people seriously seem to think. If it's so simple why does media programs, video games or hell even a middle school "hello world" project take longer than 3 minutes?
honestly I though ffxi had gaudy effects that took away from the characters. And also if you actuslly look at animation ffxi did the same thing as ffxiv. Which is reuse animations. The effects distracted you from noticing. The more noticable one is sword ws. the first thee ws use the some anination.
This goes along with what I said before, there is only soo many ways you can swing a weapon. And the fact is human actors are limited in what actions they can do. I like the animations and effects. I've always like "calm" things. I like stuff with a light touch not a massive explotion. And the animation wre made with motion capture and look more realistic. I think a gaudy effect would cover it up too much.
I'm sorry your to into yourself to appreicaite the actusl hard work that went into creating the game. Sorry you over speculated everything.
i have no idea why people have their panic mode switch turned on. we're not paying a monthly sub for the game. you can argue that they will lose money because of the bad rep they are getting for even releasing the game at its current state but do you know how they can make money come ps3 release? have a positive attitude so new players will want to buy the game and pay a monthly sub.
complaining about content and telling them to force it out when its not ready is not going to fix things. complaining about something so small such as seasonal events is not going to fix things. being oblivious to the changes made in the past 6 months is not going to fix things.

I bet you don't need any source code to fix some value or rebalancing because they must have a tool that allow you to setting the game configuration and anyone who had more than 60 IQ should easily do it in 5 minutes
or if you really have to edit the source code and recompile it... the previous guy should tell you everything when he pass this job to you

pere rift is a copy cat mmo. with story ideas taken from MUD. Donly you think it fishy an unknown mmo game dev making a first mmo that is polished? sorry I don;t by it and I looked rift up. I looks bad. The job system is pretty stupid. And not to mention the intro is highly similar to every MUD Ironrealms makes.
I also took computer aided drafting which is used alot to help render objects. It can take 3 days to design a hammer. You have to make sure that everyline you draw is connected to the smallest point. And you also have to make sure all measurements are accurate. If even 1 line is have by even less then a hair you gotta redesign the whole thing. As everything will then be off.

because rift was a totally new concept and strayed away from the "standard" MMOs.....
there is nothing wrong with SE implementing something that was already done BEFORE THE GAME WAS RELEASED. please realize this.
