Instant housing where you can pick what type of area you want and lets you build your own kingdom in it.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but... something more integrated into the regular world. I want instanced apartments in the actual cities, etc., or perhaps even accessible seemingly from the overworld, even if that means giving up customization of the outside. Oh, and camps. Let us set up camps as we like, via semi-permeable server channel-ing. Others can see the camp only to the degree we like. (Or, hell, take that opportunity to allow for variable/flexible numbers of channels on a given server, with players able to join open camps. Pipedream: in the context of revitalized hunt mechanics, an optionally more dangerous open world, migrating mob packs, worthwhile grind exp and avenging bosses or elites, etc.)

I actually like the ward concept as it’s quite unique. They just need to figure out how to better handle supply, and I think what would help take the pressure off is a better selection of instanced alternatives.

Island sanctuary should have and still could have the option of choosing a location and placing a small plot. It was a missed opportunity to not have instanced housing on islands. That big beach you spawn on before running up is ripe for a beachfront small property.

We could also get penthouse apartments that include an outdoor balcony portion like the inn rooms in Tuliyollal. They could allow for outdoor furniture and gardening.

I would have settled for either option ages ago if they were available instead of continuing to try and get a house in a ward. It took me 5 and a half years to get a small plot and I took several month breaks from the game twice because of how frustrated I was with housing scarcity.

Mao REALLY wants scalable furnitures and true XYZ placement system. Glitching hurts Mao claws.

Wards are dead and boring anyway, and I hate it when people with bad taste move into a ward and use ugly customization so I'd give up my house for a superior instanced house system. Also fuck the artifical scarcity and elitism that come with housing as it is now.
^ 100% this! I've said this before and I'll say it again: neighborhoods are actually ghost towns, I'm tired of being surrounded by ugly and empty plots that ruin my view, it feels like living in Detroit.

The whole lottery system is a joke, I've never seen an other MMO where people have to rely on RNG just to get a house. It's absolutely ridiculous. People call it fair but randoms who don't give a crap about housing win FC mansions and then sell them on the housing discord for 200mil+. Yuck. Give us instanced housing so people who actually care and want to decorate can finally get a nice home!

Like LittleArrow said, I’d like an instanced housing system like ESO in Eorzea, but for me particularly the part where there’s a wide variety of home types and sizes!

Examples I’ve used in the past… an Ishgardian townhouse, two stories, balcony, outdoor courtyard. A cabin nestled in the Dravinian Hinterlands. A caravan type home in Thavnair. A bio dome on the Moon. And now that we have new areas, those cute little houses in the trader village, or the new gobby houses, or any number of places.

Basically the interior and exterior could work the same as ward housing does now. No need to reinvent the wheel, but depending on how elaborate a particular design is, you may not be able to customize all aspects of the home’s exterior, similar to how our current housing skins operate. No need to charge extra since we’re paying a sub, but failing that, everyone should at least get their first home free, since ward owners aren’t paying extra for their plot. Maybe super fancy options could be cash shop, but that should only be a one-time fee.

That would be an ideal, but honestly all I really want out of housing is the ability to set my plot anywhere by choosing my background scenery, the ability to change the size of the plot at will (make a remodeling permit if it needs to be a gil sink), the ability to add rooms on to personal homes, higher item limits, ability to place items without needing floating glitches, and everyone to be able to have the kind of housing they want, as well as own multiple without taking up a limited resource.

While the ward system is cute, it is finite. You can’t just add unlimited wards without having significant server space/resources tied up in that. Adding an instanced system allows more housing to be added, that only loads when in use. It also allows for more options that aren’t possible under the current system, especially for exteriors, because the ward neighborhoods have to be permanently loaded.

I just want both of my characters to be able to share a house. I don't understand why one has to be a homeless bum when the other has a medium house.
Funny thing is that most of the housing problems could have vanished entirely if they made Island Sanctuary into a second housing option. Let us build an actual house there and decorate it to our liking and I doubt even half of these complaints remain unresolved. The only complaint you'd likely get is the level barrier of entry being 90.

Pretty much the scarcity issue… but I would like to see housing be more alt friendly too… Allow alts to be tenants in your main characters home (or homes, if we get instances), have their own rooms and create a personal version of the FC chest for storing tradeable items.

Continuing on with my wish list though, I’d also like to see multiple sizes and varieties brought to apartments and FC rooms. And/or allow the purchase of customizable rooms at any current inn location.

I hate to give this game ANY praise, but DCUO had these as default housing features and I will never not bring that up. Square, why are you letting SOE (and now Daybreak by extension) one-up you like this?!

Maybe I'm strange in that I like the "neighborhood" feeling they crafted and have actually talked with and befriended some of my neighbors before, but there's no reason they can't have instanced housing on top of the existing wards. I also think, as opposed to just getting extremely lucky to get a medium or large house, it would be better if that was thing that's actually earned through the game play.

I think back to memories of playing Animal Crossing growing up, and how exciting it was when I could expand my house and get a new room or floor to decorate. It took time, so I could think of what I wanted while saving up bells. Imagine an instanced housing system a la Island Sanctuary zone, (just no spreadsheet simulator please), where you start with the equivalent of an apartment sized space, but it's pretty quick and easy (like a day or two of playing) to upgrade it to the size of a small house. You can slowly upgrade to a medium and large house by investing time in a system. I thought initially of just buying upgrades with gil, but that would be hard for new players and players on slower DCs where the economy isn't great, so some other currency would probably work better. Maybe its even just tomestones? You get your upgrades from just playing the game and saving up for different parts to buy with Poetics or something. Veterans already don't know what to do with all these Poetic tomestones, so it could be another thing to invest them in. I'm just spitballing, of course.

This would all be in addition to what we already have, so people who want a neighborhood spot can still have a chance of getting one, AND everyone can have another house in a new instanced area.

...now that I write that all out and look at it, I guess I'm asking for Island Sanctuary But It's Actually Good And Fun And Has A Real House.
