It'll be pretty funny if Final Fantasy XI ends up outlasting this game. Cause the upcoming Echos of Vana will ether pull the nostalgic back in or players will be curious about the first online final fantasy game.

Plus there is rumors FFXI will get their own fantasia potions, so maybe in its old age male Mithra will finally be playable, female Galka can't be done as its lore they are an all male race. Tho how are they gonna be able to do 8 (or 7 if one of the male Mithra use Lehko's face and hair) plus the B variations of them? and then the battle grunts for all 7~8 variations.

Its only western twitter/x that creams themselves over "uwu I wanna marry Wuk SHE is best GIRL uwu" JP players see her as a female Naruto (tho thats an insult to Naruto...shes more like Sakura lmao...tho to be fair Sakura had flaws and did have some growth to her character) or kiddy Shonen anime protagonist.

tbh i keep thinking to sub and try this game, but the old ui and no modern feature like quest mark or where to go next and not to mention the playonline savage trial, always put me off

i wish they ease up the playonline a bit or just put a dang whole new launcher and maybe polish the ui a bit more, i definitely going to try it especially now you can just solo all the way

There's no way they're adding male Mithra to FFXI. They never added additional races the way FFXIV did, and they're basically a step away from maintenance mode from here on out, with only minor updates and a very small team, so I'd highly doubt something major like that would ever be done. And I'm raising an eyebrow on the "fantasia rumor" just because they've always been so damn restrictive about their characters. Hell, they didn't even have a name change option; I remember people had to get hacky and basically pay for a server transfer to a server that already had your character's name to allow/force you to change your own.

It isn't a rumor, they announced on Freshly Picked Vana'diel 68 they were looking to making race changes possible in XI. This should take you to the video and timestamp it is discussed. You may need to turn on CC and put in in your proper language.

I dunno about stepping down, sounds pretty excessive and no one is privvy to internal culture but it is very fair to say XIV feels like it's lacking in both direction and passion lately all around. I've never really seen a game put rugs over holes in the floor the way FFXIV does. This game does everything possible to not budge an inch.

For now, I just hope the patch cycle is better this time. Endwalker was genuinely awful in terms of content if you, like 99% of the player base, have no interest in spending months playing with Ultimates. Especially considering how much cheating and money changing hands goes on in that razor thin fragment.
