Except unlike her, he has failed, has learned as a character, and admitted his own failings. And he wasn't forced down our throats 139 times in an expansion. Hell he wasn't forced down our throats 139 times in TWO expansions.Opinions are wonderful things, aren't they? Personally, the clear and easy winner of that spot for me is Zenos. I always saw him as disappointingly one-dimensional and no growth. On the other hand, I enjoyed the journey with Wuk Lumat and her as a character.
Personally, I hope she's still a major part of the story throughout the DT patches. Once we hit the next expansion, my guess is she'll take a back seat like Aymeric, Lyse, Raubahn, etc. who were all major players for one specific installment, and then background characters doing their own thing afterward.
Funny enough, he was even scarce in his OWN expansion. Fordola and Yotsuyu took most of the 'spotlight'.
As someone who loves him I know he's a divisive character, but I feel like the hate is undeserved and honestly wild to think that he's 'worse' than Wuk, who needs constant babysitting and pats on the back, all around incompetent but feels entitled to the throne I guess? I mean at least Zenos had the strength to get shit done, at least I can admire that.
I never wanted an expansion where I babysit an overgrown child and I just see the world through the lens of something so...insufferable. I wouldn't mind her in small doses, but I can't get away from her. I want to talk to other characters but it's like 99% is Wuk??? Let me BREATHE. And maybe hire some babysitter or something, if I squint really hard I might see a glimmer of character development (so far) but then I realize it's a trick of the light.
I'm like what? 25% through the MSQ and I'd rather sit through ARR than this. The environments are pretty, but I'm literally not motivated to go anywhere because it's TALK TO WUK simulator. I'm dying of boredom.

I actually love how Square Enix took the criticism people had of Zenos and actually turned that into sort of a character arc for him - where he learns that while the WoL is his world, he is not the WoL's, and has to come to terms with it. It was actually made quite nicely, and I loved the finale of it all. In the end, Zenos was a good antagonist I find.
RIP Viper 28/06/2024 - 30/07/2024. It was a fun month.
I agree with you. I'm not a fan of Alisaie, but I loved when she drove a stake through his heart verbally, and you could tell it stuck with him.I actually love how Square Enix took the criticism people had of Zenos and actually turned that into sort of a character arc for him - where he learns that while the WoL is his world, he is not the WoL's, and has to come to terms with it. I'll admit I liked his character from the start. I loved that he beat the WoL to a pulp because at that point we just kept winning because of the plot armor of the blessing of light (and I mean, I get it, we are the player, we can't really lose), and it was nice to be kicked down a few notches, showed that the WoL while OP, is not infallible.I actually love how Square Enix took the criticism people had of Zenos and actually turned that into sort of a character arc for him - where he learns that while the WoL is his world, he is not the WoL's, and has to come to terms with it. When it came EW, his arch was an improvement of something I like... like adding chocolate syrup on top of dulce de leche icecream and the fact that the WoL didn't end up completely unscathed, even if we had just defeated despair was just such a perfect way to close that chapter.
And now, the one that will follow us like a very crappy Majima screaming in lower case and hiding in a garbage bin is... Poochie...
To call that a downgrade it's underselling it.

She's a super primal
Agreed. When he breathed his last, I said: "rest well frenemy". He was a worthy nemesis. He deserved his end for his crimes but I also respected him on some level.I actually love how Square Enix took the criticism people had of Zenos and actually turned that into sort of a character arc for him - where he learns that while the WoL is his world, he is not the WoL's, and has to come to terms with it.
