I use one of the eyeshadow facepaints and as far as I can remember, yes, it always added a little on the lower eyelid as well as the upper.A question for people who use the eyeshadow-facepaint for their character: has it always added a small amount of colour to the lower eyelid or is that another weird outcome of the update?
My Viera character uses a light amount of dark red eyeshadow on the inner part of the eyelid (its face-shaping rather than makeup) and I've realised it is also colouring the lower eyelid and making the eyes look slightly bloodshot, which I have never noticed before, so there has been a shift in either the placement or the intensity of it or both.
I definitely think facepaint has been altered to have more vivid colours. It's particularly noticable on my Au Ra because I picked the colour to be a similar light brown to his scales, but now it has more of an orange tone to it. (And the scales may have shifted in a different direction, which isn't helping either.)
I used to change a lot because of 1.0 and my character ported badly, so then I fell in love with my Midlander and then the graphical update ruined their faces. This past month I have been cat, hyur, cat hyur!
I finally have managed to fix my character and I am hoping that if there are any changes it is to the Midlander mouths and the baggy eyes on face 1. I also do not like the nose on face 1 and 2 anymore so lets hope it is all taken into account. I feel for everyone who feels the same.
I will have funded the next expac in fantasia sales at this rate lol >.<
I've been playing aura since the update for the same reason. I know a lot of people here are very passionate about the details of the faces but personally I'm not really that bothered over small changes like mouth or eye curve being slightly different shape, however I do hate how the new hyur faces (especially my face 1 girlies) looks really "puffy" as if she's having a constant allergic reaction especially under certain lighting conditions. It's not just the puffy eyelids but the weird deep shadow under the eyes and across the nose and how the nose looks larger due to the bridge being so much thinner.
My hyur went from looking like a healthy gal in her early twenties to a 35 year old smoker with a severe allergies.

Personally I think they look too young now, with so many of their features being rounded out and softened. I definitely agree with the puffiness though. Really not the kind of thing you expect when it comes to a graphical update.I've been playing aura since the update for the same reason. Seconding this. I chose face 4 for my midlander♀ strictly because it's the only noticeably mature face and I am very disappointed with how soft it looks now.
My biggest peeve when it comes to midlander♀ faces might be what they have done to the creases (or lack thereof) under the eyes. Faces that have never had clear bags under their eyes have them now, and the one face that was supposed to have a noticeable crease has had it softened to the point you don't see it anymore.
These are all images taken after DT's launch:

Comparison images taken from benchmarks (DT v1.1 and EW):
The face looks softer, the pupils are (once more) larger, the eyelashes are longer. She looks younger.
I miss her

I think the funny thing is that it's kinda both at the same time, I do agree that some features were rounded up wayy too much so our character looks both too young and also too old at the same time, kinda if you put a wrinkle filter on a baby.
Just chiming in as another Elezen (Wildwood, female) player whose character lost her soul with the graphics update. I wish I had good before/after photos, but plenty of other posts (like this) have covered the issue. The worst part is that I'm already at the point where I don't even notice the graphics changes in the landscape (OK, fog still looks cool), but EVERY time I look at my character, I'm sad. She looks permanently bored and/or annoyed. A Scion could be telling her about what she needs to do to save the world (again), and my WoL is like "yeah, whatever". I thought I might get used to it, but no such luck. Not while my gal is walking around looking like she's on horse tranquilizers.

I really don't notice much of a difference with this graphic update. It feels just like when I played endwalker. The only thing I noticed really was the eyeshadow for tattoo's looks off

August really couldn't end sooner, there doesn't go a day where I'm not thinking about the graphics update. I'm basically just paying my sub to keep my house currently.

Are we due some new about the graphics update soon? and are we due a letter? Sorry I just can't seem to find anything. I would welcome any news on what direction they are heading with it all.

Going through video clips to collect screenshots currently, and besides the issues with my own characters, some things I have noticed with NPCs:
1. Despite the alterations to G'raha that I talked about in my previous post, the Exarch appears to be unchanged and still using the old eye shape. So it seems that there's no inherent change to the structure of the character animations that requires these alterations.
2. There's something weird going on with shadows on Alphinaud's eyelids (and presumably Alisaie's as well) – can be seen easily in the single cutscene for "A Grand Adventure" in post-Shadowbringers.
