For that matter...DON'T STORE CRUCIAL DATA IN RAM!!!!That one struck me too. For a computer program it's not very good at managing its resources. 'nice' is a fairly basic server command/methodology to deprioritise less important tasks. Even Windows has it under task manager.
If one is short on memory/speed... most kids know to shut other programs before running the important stuff.
Braindead tech knowledge from bad writers.
Has there ever been an explanation on why electrope works outside of the lightning dome? It is fueled by lightning right? Even if they can store it to some degree it still should not be possible for them to go on a long winded campaign.Well, I guess there is also the (admittedly somewhat less convincing*) issue of Zoraal Ja turning his attention to Eorzea if he had been successful in Tural.
*from what we saw of the attack on Tuliyollal I think it's pretty safe to say that his forces would've fared rather badly Vs Eorzea!
This, so much. For me the real problem was that someone as wise as Vrtra would just sign a military alliance with nation he so far had no contact with and also does not know who the rulers are. That is not something a wise/good leader would ever do.
Thavnair was hit by far the hardest the Final Days and suffered a lot. After all that he would just willy-nilly sign a military alliance that could plunge his people into a brutal war and bring even more suffering?
Vrtra coming over to help out because he owes the WoL and the Scions would have been more than enough.
The whole premise and set up is an absolute farce. It shows that Tural really isn't capable of protecting itself and its leaders are fairly incompetent when the threat is easily defeated once the deus ex machina show up.
To me it also screams that Vrtra shouldn't be in charge either because of how (apparently) quickly he signed on to the agreement.
Dawntrail is just "rule of cool" and "play sad song to cause an artificial emotional reaction" the expansion.
I stand by, Vrtra shouldn't have been involved at all, but it is what it is.

The average modern AAA Square-Enix game fan doesn't need much more than cool things happening for sake of looking cool to love their games. So when XIV does it too they think it's the best MSQ ever.Oh sure. I should have added and it wasn't a banger for me. I found it cheap and barely beleivable, that in a matters of literal days, Alphi was able to not only broker the treaty with Radz-at Han, but also Vrtra managed to somehow fly to Meracydia (where else all those other dragons were from?) and back to Tural. I get that linkpearls exists, that Vrtra owes Scions and that dragons can fly pretty fast. But come on...
I did see my share of playes being very happy about this scene though.

I have seen many people proposed that we should have Koana accompanying us in the second arc and I think I agree. It would get Wuk Lamat away from us for a while and so more room to flesh out other characters. Both Koana and Zoraal Ja are characters with potential, but they squandered it with literally not actually giving them any substance. We are told their character traits and then that's more or less it. Showing how Koana and Zoraal Ja interact with each other growing up would have been good at making it more REAL. Now everything is just so superficial and sudden and...urghhhh.The writers don't care about Koana, as far as they are concerned he exists solely to prop up Wuk Lamat's character
If they cared about him they would have had him, the guy who wants to bring mass technological innovations to Tural, be the one to accompany us to Alexandria where he can see for himself the people of Tural living under said highly advanced technology while seeing how such technology can be misused. On top of that the story seems to show that Koana knows Zoraal Ja better and has known him for longer than Wuk, therefore it would've made more sense for him to be the one to confront him. It's a baffling decision really, not only would it have greatly benefitted Koana's character but it would've been better for Wuk Lamat's character too for her to stay behind at Tuilloyal because then she can stand with the people of Tural while showing them she understands them by fighting and working among them, but of course that would require Wuk Lamat not being the center of literally every single quest in the MSQ and we can't be having that.

I have to defend them here though.
It's completely fine to like the scene. People have different tastes and the scene itself is really not bad (the reason and execution maybe).
People can be allowed to like it and like DT without being called names or being shamed for that. It's when one tries to spin arguments and / or actually makes things up to defend their stance when it get's problematic.
If we lash out on anyone who likes something in this expansion then that turns to just pure hate and bitternes.
I don't actually think that needs an explanation.
Nothing suggests Electrope can't store energy for a larger amount of time.
As someone with a degree in electrical engineering I say that is possible. Not with our technology (storing pure electricity is a pain) but the world of ff14 works on aether anyway.
If anything they probably have it far easier with the whole energy thing then we do.

As Sneed said, the writers most likely do not care about Koana at all. Just like every other character in Dawntrail, they exist purely to push Wuk Lamat's story and character as the MC and then get side-lined after their purpose is done. The writers don't care about Koana, as far as they are concerned he exists solely to prop up Wuk Lamat's character

Koana changed the most during the rite, going from someone who pretty much didn't give a damn about his nation's culture and only about Sharlayan innovation, to someone who gradually understands it's importance and why it's not a hindrance. Meanwhile Wuk barely changed at all and solved pretty much everything in her path with peace and happiness and friendship, both during and after the rite. She was always pushed as "The Perfect Ruler" ultimately and Koana just existed to enforce that by giving up right at the finish line to declare she was the only one fit to rule.
Koana SHOULD'VE been the one to go with us in the 2nd half. He could've went to Shaaloani to see that the Dustwatch he set up has corruption issues, see the issues that his train may have inadvertently caused to some of the locals and the local wildlife as a result, and maybe gotten some more backstory on him the nomadic family that just left him. He could've seen with his own eyes just how far advanced Alexandria is and then try to wrangle with the cultural implications of their soul system. Even in Living Memory he could've seen both just how far technology can go, and also the horrors of what it would take to maintain such a thing, resulting in S9 and the final 2 zones essentially asking himself "How far is too far with technology, and is it ultimately worth it?" and learning where to go from there.
Unfortunately, Koana is not named Wuk Lamat, so he becomes another Yes-Man and then gets thrown to the side because Wuk needs another dozen hours of talking about peace and happiness and friendship.
Dawntrail did you dirty girl, it did you dirty.

Yeah this exactly. While I don't think Koana was too well-written either, he objectively has a character arc that Wuk Lamat doesn't. Gulool Ja Ja went on about how the trials of succession was about helping them grow, not merely picking a successor, but Koana was the only one who has changed? No matter how abrupt and unnatural it is written currently, he did change his long-held opinion on something. That can be counted as growth. What change did Wuk Lamat have? Nothing. She holds the exact same opinions and spout the same exact ideals as she did when she first met us. Nothing has challenged her worldview. As Sneed said, the writers most likely do not care about Koana at all. Just like every other character in Dawntrail, they exist purely to push Wuk Lamat's story and character as the MC and then get side-lined after their purpose is done.

If as you said Koana's story can be explored more, if he can visit the S9 and understand everything that entails, his change could become a lot more natural and convincing and he would be an even better character. But none of that happened. It's just so frustrating.

was going through that jp thread seems theyre not too happy either, they well and truly fumbled this msq. those jp complaints cant be ignored, im on copium they'll make 7.1 msq more interesting now.
