Wow, Wuk Lamat is really single-handedly ruining the DT story...

To me the end scenes were also a final reminder of why I never felt properly relaxed in the inn, by the way. She knows where we sleep and we'll never know peace. They had so many quests and cutscenes near the reception, some of which actively prevented you from entering the inn to see to your retainers or glams or do anything at all to get a break from the never-ending Wuk Lamat cutscene show. It's a lovely cabin, but I still half-expect her to come knocking on the door again.

I never figured out why I like the Sharlayan Annex better than the new inn because aesthetically the new inn looks better to me, but I just...don't feel relaxed. And now you solved it for me. Because of my subconscious anxiety!

I did the Vanuvanu Hanuhanu quests first and I'm still mad about it over a month later. What kills me is that Wuk Evu knew the parade float was an aetheric focus and didn't offer to make repairs until Lamat asked him to, and the head of the village outright admitted that the festival wasn't effective because they had been half-assing it for years! They have an aetheric laser (aaser?) that magically makes their crops better with highly visible and immediate results, and they just didn't care enough to do the ceremony right! "Oh, I'm sad because a storm wrecked a house and someone died. *shrug* I guess we'll all starve." And Wuk Lamat even saw the festival as a kid and didn't know anything about the damn laser beam! I don't think that's something a kid would forget!

I think that bit of poor writing hit me harder because I'm a farmer in a semi-arid region. I know what it's like to lose a crop to weather. It sucks, to put it mildly. If dancing naked in front of the county courthouse would guarantee a good rain for everyone, I would be putting on two shows a month. It would be stupid not to.

Yeah in the grand scheme of things it seems like such a minor point but when you look at it properly it's just so ridiculous how that quest progresses. It makes zero sense. Nobody in real life will act the way these characters did in game. I can believe a "forgotten ritual" if they say that they haven't been doing this for a long time, they have other ways of caring for crops now, but this new way of caring for crops failed after this natural disaster and they don't know what to do now. AND THEN maybe we can go re-discover an ancient ritual that do the trick. It would have made sense. As it stands now this is just moronic.

There is so many weird scene that make me question why they do this

- rubber bullet
- we decide not to kill cold blooded bandit because... It will bring bad reputation for wuk lamat.... Huh?
- gulool jaja dead and the whole gang just... Yell at zooral and stare at him
- ketenram just... Sit in criss cross position and facing the void the whole time gulool jaja dead and didnt say a word... What?
- ketenram got ambushed but turn out just a "bonk" on his head?
- whole gang wait THREE times before realizing the brown cat is kidnapped
- the goblin dont know why their employee cant work properly despite they clearly sweating and realistically shouldnt they complain to the goblin? Why they just stay quiet? Any normal worker would complain
- valigarmanda was told to be very menacing but.... Thats it?
- the whole mamook village problem
- bakool jaja sudden 180 attitude change
- wuk lamat attitude went from cautious (duty support dialogue) to being cocky and godly starting vanguard dungeon
- she also suddenly power up so much after beating bakool jaja once
- the whole musical scene during train retrofitting
- krile the character that has been with us for many years, got shafted for a brown cat that has been with us for a week top
- speeeeen

And much more, like... I dont believe the dev or yoshi look at all that and just "this is fine" with it, no way i dont buy it, there is must be somekind of backdoor playing over there, did someone at top position daughter/son want to be writer so they order the dev to let she/he handle all of it? Did someone on the team is having mad love with wuk lamat so he want her to be in the story 99%? Is wuk lamat a self insert of someone in the team (this is the many case of mary sue character in western game), did yoshi give full freedom to the writer because its "holiday" expansion?

This one expansion alone almost break the whole community and i hope the team seriously will address this, like for real, the game went from solid 8 to me to solid 5 now all thanks to this expansion

The ONLY one thing that still good from this whole mess is the ost.... Thats it, the rest is broken, the story, the writing, the plot, the class balance, etc

Don’t forget the part were they said (as promoting material )the search for the mysterious golden city of tural only for it too be found already at the start of the adventure. “Just follow the steps we took and you will find it” kills the entire suspense and like you said a lot more stuff like sphene being a knock off ascian that you should feel bad for but it’s just a computer program so you won’t be a murderer and feel guilty.

Zeroing on this cuz I don’t see a lot of people mention the Potsworn issue.

Cuz like it’s such the weirdest contract. Like it’s presented as the crafters get all their needs 110% met + be in a beautiful scenery to be inspired.

But in reality the Gobbies keep their distance and just hope and guess the needs of the crafters, don’t look at context clues if there’s anything wrong, and the crafters themselves are so “in the zone” they refuse to let their caretakers know their basic needs like wrong food, worn down tools, and AC need to be met. No one communicates with one another for some reason.

All they had to do (for it to make sense) is make it so the damage from the storm made it hard to get the specific foods and resources for the crafters, via a supply chain backup. Then show the issue is the Gobbies just don’t have a proper restock schedule, so supplies was already low, storm made the issue worse. Crafters leaving because of that. Then we could solve replacing crafters and teach Gobbies how to take and replace inventory and maybe some basic “when to replace worn down tools” skills.

But what we got was an odd way to present the issue. And doesn’t make sense that they’ve somehow kept anyone there as long as they have.

That one really bugged me. With how much emphasis the game and promotional material was putting in to the actual search for the golden city that I thought the second half of the msq would be actually searching for it, only for Ketenramm to just walk in and be like "oh, it's right over there." and that's it. Then of course we don't actually get to go in until Zeno-Hermes breaks in and causes problems with Sphmeme that forces us to get in.

Oh, and also, even with keystones stolen, this guy didn't raised any alarm. Like at all. The entire Wild West zone story has happened, and nobody got told anything. It would've made sense if Ketenramm was actually killed, but thanks to "dineyfication", he is apparently not while the player at that particular moment assumes that he is dead. So... with his sudden appearance in mentioned cutscene, the writing just falls apart.

Think about it, if not for this guy massive blunder, the second arc wouldn't have started, lmao. I understand that writers wanted to push the narrative, but they did it in the most crude and lazy way. In line with majority of Dawntrail, sadly.

Y'know what? Maybe they did and that's why they made that statement (I'm both paraphrasing and don't remember exactly when and where it was stated) that they were trying out new things with Dawntrail and would move forward based on player feedback.

Whoever they consulted might've been extremely good at convincing them that this was going to resonate real well with the "modem audience".

Don’t forget sphenes plan is also super mega dumb. She first helps zoraal ja so he can gather souls for her and he effectively wanted too conquer the entire world anyway and did what he promised too sphene as we saw in the attack on the capital. Only for sphene to backstab him pretty early even though he kept all his promises and only took a massive chunk off souls and other stuff for war(something you need normally if you don’t have a mcguffin for shard fusion) and the plan relies on us being super mega dumb idiots letting sphene walk in and take this mcguffin right from us after she effectively told us she was in cooperation with zoraal and was fine with the war and she needed the souls. So effectively she backstabs us twice and we still don’t do anything when she takes a casual stroll and yoinks the fusion device from under us (we really like too watch dumb shit happen and don’t do anything against it 2 times in a row this expansion like idiots)

My guess is bad playtest, and those scenes were added after. The whole Krile seeing ether being sucked to never be mentionned again is the result of people going "if their goal was to steal aether, why did we not see them doing so. It even don't sit well with the "only 50 dead, it was an intimidation attack". If their goal was to steal aether there should have been far more victims. And the more they added those to "fix" the problems, the more they created new ones.
