Raise the Poetics Cap

I'm curious to see what the community thinks about this idea, but general consensus among most players that I've talked to seem to be in agreement: The poetics cap should be higher.

If you're doing roulettes, hunts, Eureka/Bozja, etc, you are just inundated with Poetics and have to frequently break up what you're doing to go spend them. ("BRB, tomestone dump" - we've all heard it.)

I propose that we should raise the cap from ~2000 to ~5000 (or higher? - not sure)

I kinda picked 5000 out of the air since a full set of gear is a little over ~4300 tomestones, so being able to gear out an alt with a poetics dump seems like a good place to start.

It's been 2000 since ARR, but the acquisition rate is *much* higher now.

As a side topic - I feel like we need more stuff to spend poetics on.

Once you're done with relics, there's no real use for them aside from as a proxy currency to get other currencies. (eg: Poetics -> last xpac's rings -> GC Seals -> Ventures -> Materials from Retainers).

That just feels really awkward, but at least there's *some* use for them. Anyone have thoughts on a good poetics dump? Maybe another token mount like we have with shared fates where 1k poetics = 1 voucher, etc?

Doing every single Manderville weapon costs 114,000 Tomestones.
Anima Relics go up to 299,000 Tomestones depending on how much you use alternative methods to get the materials, at minimum 87,750.

Anyone have thoughts on a good poetics dump? Maybe another token mount like we have with shared fates where 1k poetics = 1 voucher, etc?

It'd be a lot more respectful than any of the gil dump mounts.
They'd be able to do 5 different mounts, one for each expansion. Make that tome dump take another 500,000 to be done with, if you don't want to make money on the side.

Go to Idyllshire and purchase Unidentifiable Ore or Shell. Turn to your right and use the Ore and Shells to buy Thanalan or Shroud Topsoil from the adjacent vendor. Sell on the Marketboard if you won't use it yourself. There's a fairly consistent market for both since they're frequently used by gardeners.

If you have a need for GC seals, buy a bunch Augmented Credendum rings and turn them in. Even if you don't need the seals, you can purchase crafting materials like Coke and Hardened Sap that are in high demand for FC workshops. They can also be used to buy Ventures for retainer missions and the crates that reward random minions and mounts from HW and Stormblood.

If you've completed an ARR relic and enjoy hunts, the Mysterious Maps are the default method most spawners use to try to spawn Agrippa the Mighty in the Mor Dhona. That's a really good poetics dump since it's hard to get a map that's specific to Mor Dhona.

A mass poetic dump mount would actually be fantastic both as a poetic Spender and for markets that rely on things purchased with poetics. Like topsoil is now like 700 Gil on jenova, it’s not even worth the trip to idylshire and the conversion to rings then convert to GC seals is barely any better. Nothing that can be purchased with poetics can ever be worth anything because there are so many handed out and nobody ever has any use for them

Draining millions of poetics out of the market would do wonders and be a good passive goal for the expansion

Rideable Brute Justice? Rideable Shadow Dragon?
Rideable mini Shinryu? Rideable Suzaku? Rideable mini Ame-no-Murakumo?
Rideable Forgiven Obscenity? G-Warrior convert mount?
Literally just pick any given Voidsent or Ancient monster for Endwalker, they're all fitting in some way or another. Or a Flamesent.

They have tons of options all without even thinking outside the box.

as someone who has all relic weapons finished, i really don't know what to do with the poetics anymore, something similar to the Gemstones from fates would be nice.

I've seen people do this as well and tried it exactly once - the soils go for about 1000 gil each and are slow to sell. You can buy 13 of either when capped at 2k tomes, so you make 13k in a few days. With all the teleporting and waiting and vendor space, I'd rather just let the tomes cap.

This is my current go-to as it's easy to dump and the GC seals can be turned in for Ventures. However I'm approaching the 65000 venture cap so this won't be viable for much longer. (56743 at the moment).

You can also turn them in for dark matter to repair with, but once you have a stack of 999 from this, that too becomes useless.

An interesting use, but I'm not sure how many people care much about ARR S ranks - more power to the people who have the patience to try to pop it this way though.

And yeah, I've completed all relics except for 2 from Bozja (Just need Timeworn Artifacts that I'm slowly accumulated from a weekly DRn - no rush.)

raising the cap.. sounds great at first.
but then people will just sit on 5000 poetics... the difference? whenever something new for poetics comes around people will be able to buy more instantly.

now since poetics are for old stuff thats not that big of a deal but still major enough to have paying attention to

Sounds like the cap isn't the issue. What people want is more interesting things to purchase with Poetics other than gear.

But what happens if SE does add those things, players buy them and then they're right back to having nothing interesting to spend their poetics on?
