Woke up to a lovely tweet from Wuk Lamat's VA insinuating that disliking Smile could be because you're a racist.

People already don't like the character and have issues with the performance, yet people like me were willing to defend the person for doing her job as best as she was able and believing that any directional or casting issues should be laid at the feet of the company, but now she's doubling down on these implications that Dawntrail is only receiving mixed reception because fans are intolerant and don't like Black Gospel, South American culture, or Trans VAs.

I'm sure there's a certain subsection of the fandom that do believe this, and I believe her when she says she's been getting harassed due to the presence of grifters like Grummz getting involved. She should be allowed to vent her frustrations and discuss said harassment, but she's becoming a brand risk by attacking the average fan now - even if she believes that putting plausible deniability in her wording is clever.

I'm beginning to feel like the character has simply got to go. She's doing more damage in a couple months than every other VA has in the last decade combined. Lack of professionalism.

Yes death threats and harassment are absolutely uncalled for. That said, she's shown herself unfortunately to be a rather unpleasant person. And like you said, she's doing a lot of damage to player goodwill. I hope if SE has any future work planned they consider a change in VA. She's been very unprofessional.

i didn't even dodge..... and this is on default difficulty btw...

so, why are we still here?

I never thought i would miss the ARR instanced solo fights but here we are. Back in the days we had no fancy echo and some of them were impossible for certain jobs! xD

nah, not even warriors have her "Intrepid" spells (from memory, coz I'm about given up). The big DPS and heals that are the cause of this.

The game should *never* have an unkillable NPC like this.

SE is designing fights like that because of the JP playerbase. I heard they were complaining that they couldn't finish MSQ solo duties at DT launch because addons had not updated yet.

Let that sink in.

Jobs are getting babyproofed for the same reason. So while dungeons are a little bit more engaging now, it only takes a handful of players complaining in a certain language that keeping up a debuff while reacting to mechanics feels too "busy" and SLAP there goes any shred of complexity, bye bye.

And this only goes one way. They have never once made a solo duty or a job more difficult or complex. Nowadays that can only happen to content that other players can carry someone through.
