Honestly, I might let mine run out as well. Not just because of the story, but because I've been playing this game on and off for over a decade now. Despite that, I have no group of friends or anything to spend time with. My FC mates have all either stopped playing or just do their own thing and keep to themselves.

I'm hesitant to join another one because of how saturated the community is with those we've encountered in this thread. Not that I mind them personally, but being surrounded by people that don't share a similar mindset to your own and having to remain silent just to avoid unnecessary drama is something I've been dealing with for just too freakin' long now.

I'm playing out of obligation at this point, and it sucks.

I've got a friend who's drank all the kool-aid on this, and it's just frustrating to talk to them about things sometimes. They were all excited when it was announced that DT would have a "consultancy" group help, and I immediately knew that DT was going to be a shitshow with just that knowledge alone. And here we are, and it's even more of a shitshow than I could even have imagined. Still hasn't stopped them from praising it, and defending Wuk from [buzzwords], though.

I played WoW for 15 years, FFXIV for almost 2. I would like to keep playing this game. I will never go back to WoW. But in the meantime, when I won't be playing any games, I will finish my cinematic, finish my other projects, that are still shelved. And if this game is shaping up after this fiasco, I'll be back.

was actually referring to GW2 have never in my life played WoW to be honest I grew up on GW and then the games from perferct world and others in the Wuxia genre.

but in all honesty I love FFXIV and am even slogigng through MSQ as I am told the trials are good but I keep my sanity by lvling my jobs and doing believe it or not leve quests and Zodiak relic farming.

The only thing ever special about this community was the mass delusion that it was different than other MMO communities in the first place.

Problem is they are in the US and the US is not global to try and push what they think is right or wrong on global is the most irritating thing I have ever found.

I even went so far before to say that Americans need to remember there are 7 continents, with multiple countries in each one; each with its own population and world views the US thinking that their way of thinking is the only way is the vilest narcissistic thing i have ever seen and it really needs to stop.

Those that are not included in the above I hope you know who you are and if not, it is those who accepts that not everyone is the same and that things like they is used in numerous ways that does not form part of an ideology shared by whatever debate is ongoing in America.

As a US Citizen... you're dead on. You just summarized the bulk of the problems I have with my country. I always did find the idea of yelling at SE over things like 'black gospel' hilarious by example, as Japan is one of the most xenophobic places on the planet. Love the culture and it has some really cool features, but they aren't going to be giving a damn about that claim. Nor should they.

That was all done by one guy. A single guy who was passionate about the language and the culture and more importantly, respected it because of that passion he has.

Of course, there's no way to add those sort of things in a game, so of course, they can't go into deep detail and, considering it is a full fantasy setting, I also don't think there's a need for clarifications, but all that shows from the current localization team, is a disdain for Japanese culture, specially if it will conflict with their ideology.

And this is how it was supposed to be - how it should be done, if you even have a sliver of respect for the source...

I recall one of my favorite Manga around... 2007-ish? She got proposed to do an US release but since it had loli stuff in it they ofc wanted to make some changes - the Author, she always said how she used her own experiences etc for the story, just literally told em something like "im really sorry that it does create such problems but no, there wont be any changes to my story, so thanks but no thanks." lol

Very much like that story about studio Ghibli and the Sword they've sent that US publisher with the words "NO CUTS" written on it after their last movie got violated pretty bad...
