The menacing aura of every Lalafell.
10 year plan for FFXIV started with Dawntrail..
Just think about it
"The only way you were misled is if you haven't been paying attention to how bad FF14 is"I'm pretty sure as soon as they hinted at a competition between the Scions, a bunch of people said "oh, so we'll pay lip service to being on different sides and then we'll come together to fight against the real baddie" and that's EXACTLY what happened. The only way you were mislead is if you haven't been paying attention for the last decade of storytelling.
Sometimes the white knights really manage to own themselves.
I can firmly say I'm not buying a physical collectors edition again. I had to make Dawntrail the first expansion I got a physical collectors edition for and now I wish I had done it for Endwalker. It's not a quality thing as much as it feels odd having a physical reminder or momento of the expansion that arguably has the worst MSQ even by comparison to ARR and Stormblood.
Arr was desperate and doing a lot of lifting. Stormblood was clumsy but earnest.I can firmly say I'm not buying a physical collectors edition again. ...this was just the narrative equivalent of being hungover and throwing random good-tasting stuff into a bowl, then eating it even when it sucks because you can't be bothered to put more energy into it.
I can forgive the difficulties of spaghetti, but the final reward of the story quest line being 6 pieces of the highest quality of Garlean Cheese really feels like they just gave up and didn't care in the end.
lol one day the playerbase will stop excusing CBU3. basically what oizen said
Recurring cash cows don't get big increase in budget if they're generating a lot as is. Look at mainline Pokemon games for instance. This is also why XIV is getting less experienced people taking big roles (like Dawntrail's scenario writer) while the better ones move to other projects.
And yeah this fanbase loves to talk about spaghetti code excuses. Nearly every code for major growing projects are spaghetti code.

*cries in fully voiced cutscenes *
At this point in the game's life, the whole "Spaghetti code" thing really is just an excuse. Chat bubbles, as a prime example, have literally been in the game since 2.0 for NPC's, yet they cannot seem to figure out how to make them work as a toggle-able option for player characters after over a decade? Certain "programs" have given Viera and Hrothgar's hats, yet after all these years the main devs still cannot get the hat stuff working properly for like 80-90% of the available hats, but still continue to release cash shop glamours with hats that cannot be worn by Viera/Hroth even though they should be putting in the bare minimum effort to at least make those wearable given you have to pay for them? I can certainly understand that there are no doubt SOME limitations with this game being held together with some chewed gum, paperclips, and a whole lotta thin string, but at this point it's either they are just very lazy, under paid / smaller budget, or understaffed / overworked, or maybe even a combination of them.
