Hm... Moved to duplicate but can't fine an existing one in the "going to address" forum. Maybe the jp bug reports?
Bumping for visibility
At this point I just don‘t bother anymore with headgear that hides ears.
When it’s pure glamour gear or outdated gear that does it like the Sentai costume from summer that hides tails or the viper hood I just throw them away.
Maybe it will show up in some statistics as a footnote.
Yes I can be really petty.
The Vanguard Fending (and Maiming) set hiding tails feels kind of like a bad joke as there's basically a perfectly functional spot for the tail to come out off and it likely wouldn't even have clipping issues most armors have... But the ONE TIME they do that they hide the tail.
Yeah, if anything that armor should have provided a custom tail like how it works for charr in gw2. And it's not like FFXIV only got 1 tailed race. nearly half the playable races have tails, one of which is the most popular race. The Vanguard Fending (and Maiming) set hiding tails feels kind of like a bad joke as there's basically a perfectly functional spot for the tail to come out off and it likely wouldn't even have clipping issues most armors have... I think that is what's so shocking about all of this: Miqo'te are the most played race. If they're getting their ears and tails chopped off, then Viera and Hrothgar (especially Hrothgar) are doomed.
(I'm being dramatic, but...)
I think they keep forgetting that races other than Midlander, Roegadyns and Lalafels exist. As every other race just gets treated as midlanders by the devs, except Hroth's get treated as Roes.
Nah , you're right. Their treatment of features for beast races has only gotten worse with the years. Tbh I'm almost certain that if it wasn't for strong community outrage over chopping off hrothgar ears on those hairstyles way back they wouldn't have bothered bringing them back purely by how they've treated the whole issue so far. They need another kick like that to pay attention again. Pretty sad getting to your artifact gear and being greeted once again with your ears chopped off on some of the most basic hat silhouettes.
Though the wildest thing with miqos is the sheer inconsistency. In the same dungeon they had gear that got rid of their ears and tails you also have this hat.
Its perfect. Just like ARR hats. Am not sure why that one hat in particular even got that treatment. Must be a dev who really wanted a good cat cap that worked on it or something LOL.
Wow, I would've believed that hat was from the ARR-era if you hadn't told me!Nah , you're right. Their treatment of features for beast races has only gotten worse with the years. The inconsistencies in quality lately has been prevalent in many aspects of the game. It's made even worse by how silent the devs have been on the matter. I'm hoping this upcoming Live Letter mentions the removal of ears and tails, but I doubt it will.
Still, like you said, we need to keep making a big stink about it, so that the devs can finally fix the issue.
Very few helmets completely hide lalafell ears and I was personally greatly dismayed that a few dawntrail gear pieces hide lalafell ears because it's so rare for that to happen. Actually, lalafells and elezen often have their ears pointedly accounted for in the same gear that the miqo'te lose them, such as the Euphrosyne visor of healing or some of the Anabaseios hats.1. Hyur got ears. 2 to be precise. Never heard a Hyur/lala/elezen complaining because the helmet hides his/her ears.
2. When I use an helmet for the motorcycle my ears are hidden (and protected).
3. an helmet is used to protect your head, ears included.
With the logic of "Show your ears" miqote's and viera adventurers would all be deaf.
