Wonder how close it'll be in 1.22

From that close it doesn't really look very 'physical'. Looks very much like a big ball of aether or something rather than something with like 'physical properties' if that makes any sense.
EDIT;
Kinda reminds me of those pictures you see of viruses.
Sorry to put two images in one post but couldn't resist;

The Ul'duh Inn is like an antique shop...full of crap and always closed."You don't have to say anything, I just look at your life now and work backwards." - Black Books
I don't think Dalamud gives a $%(^ on what we think it is, it's coming anyway!
Retired FFXI character: Ranok of Sylph
I think up close it looks even more 'physical' than normally, because you can actually see the mechanical parts of it like those metal-like craters or the spikey satellite tombstone-like things.
I put both pictures beside each other so you can see the similarities better

I sort of see those as more rune-ey looking rather than physical. I think that I think that because of how transparent it looks against the sky though.

So I haven't seen many people discuss the Seventh Verse of the Divine Chronicles that Yoshida put up when he took charge. Urianger recites the first part in game as well:
The first line appears to concern the change from Astral era to Umbral era, like from day to night.Ne'er till land consumes sun can sea bear moons,
Heavens spew crimson flame, hells seep black dooms.
Stray seeds quicken in ash's grey embrace,
Valiant blades forged under the Twelve's good grace.
We've seen the heavens spew flame in the first cutscene for each city, as well as in the intro video. I'm not sure what "hells seep black dooms" refers to though.
The third line seems to be talking about what happens afterward. Stray seeds quicken (us) in ash's grey embrace (post-impact).
The last line may just be looking toward the future. Adventurers (valiant blades) growing stronger after being saved by the Twelve.
However that's all just my first interpretation of it. I'd like to hear the input of others of course.

"Yes, but how much brighter the light that shined from the void! Think of it, Gaius! Within that nothingness(Meaning Eorzea after it has been destroyed by Dalamud) lies the root of all creation - pure potential, limitless possibility! This is the wisdom of the Ancients"
Meaning something is sleeping... or something is waiting to be reborn/awakened...
And that wound from the meteor will cause intense energy right at that spot

Bahamut, mayhaps...?
Well... "Common" sense isn't all that common anymore, now is it?
The stray seeds thing might be referencing what happens with those forest fires. There's basically a plant/tree that benefits from them or something, I forget the name. But yeah basically ash's grey embrace, the burned remains of 1.** left after the impact causes seeds to quicken which I read as new life, i.e. stuff growing from seeds. That could mean us though.So I haven't seen many people discuss the Seventh Verse of the Divine Chronicles that Yoshida put up when he took charge. Urianger recites the first part in game as well:
