I'm unsubbing over the Viper changes

I went into Dawntrail already feeling demoralized because they dumbed down my favourite job, Monk, by removing timer management and just making it "follow the glowing button". Then I found Viper and my interest was renewed. Pretty simple overall but it had some of the timer management I liked, I liked how it looked, it felt good to play. This was something I could see myself playing long-term, I was enjoying logging in each day and playing again.

I didn't even get to enjoy the job for a single damn patch before it was torn away from me. At this point it feels like the devs hate me specifically, like they don't want me in particular to have fun. Everything I like gets dumbed down until I hate it and I'm just so fed up.

There's still things about the game I enjoy but every time I think about playing I'm reminded that they screwed up Viper for no good reason and I get so annoyed that I lose all interest. Everything I find fun just gets lobotomized to try to appeal to players who don't even really care and who will still won't press the right buttons anyway. No point giving feedback because even hundreds of people turning up on the forums to say to leave something alone isn't enough to counter complaints from 2 players saying it's too complex.

If Noxious Gash is restored as it was then I'll come back, but I've played long enough to know the devs are stubborn and hardheaded about their "improvements" and basically never walk back changes no matter what the players say, so I'm not hopeful. To all those who complained and who will say "I like the changes actually": May you have all the simplification you ever wanted. I've had enough.

As a fellow Monk player, I know exactly how you're feeling.

Also unsubbed, for this among other reasons. A $15/mo charge in addition to expansion costs, for what? More cutscenes and less fun year over year?

i wonder whats going on in your life if the removal of an automatic debuff in your standard rotation that took 1/500th of an IQ to not screw up was the last thread that kept you playing.
the job plays exactly the fucking same. cept now you can actually swap targets without gimping yourself.

but good luck in wherever it is you're going im sure the devs there will listen to your dramatic main character syndrom rants. as they are wont to do.

i've always played white mage, which has a very simple kit, because my hands are too small to hit a lot of keybinds. i'm sure other people play prefer simple jobs for similar reasons or just because they don't care to keep up with a high demand job. i feel really bad for people who love more intense jobs and figuring out all the niches that they have. it's really sad they took two jobs away from you. i really don't understand the desire to make everything simple. not everything should be easily playable or accessible, it is just boring.

Honestly, if you stopped having fun, it's a good choice for you OP.

The devs won't do anything of course, but it means you are free to play other games that have the timer management you desire.
