I just don't see the point in continuously winding oneself up over a character that kinda sucks but probably won't be seen again until maybe late autumn at the earliest. Just makes it seem like outrage is all you live for.

Also, killing off Wuk Lamat so abruptly would just make a good chunk of the Dawntrail MSQ thus far even more pointless in hindsight. I'd rather the writers at least try and salvage what they've written (if such a thing can be done) before bringing out the nuclear option.

It just kinda goes to show how much she's singlehandedly hurting the DT's story that she floods into absolutely everything that people consider to be wrong with it.

But yea, probably shouldn't literally kill her off, but just not have her make any more appearances without any explanation would definitely be an improvement.

I think the idea is that instead of seeing her in late autumn, we never see Wuk Lamat ever again.
Your concerns about the MSQ feeling worthless in hindsight is merely sunk cost. Allowing Poochie to make future patches worse will not make 7.0 retroactively better. It merely makes the 7.x patches worse, in the hope that Poochie might eventually be tolerable.
Instead, drag Poochie out back and shoot her off-screen while the Scions (or even JUST the WoL) get to actually have an adventure going through a new pair of continents and solving problems. Like we did in ARR, you know?

Wuk Lamat getting assassinated might actually throw Tural in a proper civil war, which would actually make for an interesting story compared to the boring peace and harmony during DT's MSQ.

I think because she is unavoidable. Even the side-quest re-insert her into your gameplay experience; trials literally have her break through the 4th wall to steal the show lol.

I think it's a rather weird position too. "I don't like this story character and believe it is making things bad, so I wish it is abruptly obliterated just so it's all made even worse by turning everything so far pointless". Come on guys, you can overcome this. You'll have other characters to hate on future expansions for whatever reason — possibly a more convincing one.

Is it? If you mean Duty Finder, they have at least tried to give us context on how the WoL calls its party members from other places using Azem's crystal during unexpected situations. That's honestly more than most games would bother putting out for something that players know exist just so the game works.

This whole "Dawntrail bad" situation reminds me a lot of what happened to Dragon Quest X's v6 (Heavenly Heroes of the Sky) and consequently what it caused v7 (Door to the Future and the Slumbering Girl) to be. On v6, the main character discovers a flying archipelago inhabited by angels in a war against aliens and is treated roughly upon arrival, mainly because they had just been crowned the Demon/Monster King by the end of v5. Japanese players complained throughout the entirety of v6 about their characters being mistreated by the angels and NPCs not licking their boots for their previous achievements (which they would still learn about throughout the story). No amount of world building or character building would make them stop complaining about it.

Eventually, v6 came to an end (which also felt great as an end to the main story arch) and v7 arrived. The result is a mess. The plot feels dead set on shaming the angels just so that the players who complained about them are made happy and there's always a bigger threat that mysteriously nobody knew about until then. It's plot power creeping, let's put it that way. It's almost like the developers have no right on focusing on stuff other than a great villain intricately connected to the history of the universe's creation or undoing.

So, if we are to follow this logic, all the complaints could well drive Final Fantasy XIV's v8 to be the most sickeningly obsessive expansion over the Warrior of Light there's ever been and we'd go back to tracking the origins of the universe, because all of a sudden we've found some kind of lead on how the Ancients have come to exist and fall into an bottomless rabbit hole.
