I did some training dummy stuff with WHM and SMN back in EW with like for like ilvls, when comparing the damage numbers for single and multitarget attacks the damage per hit was near enough the same more often than not, with the exception of SMN's really high damage stuff the crit and direct crit hits went in favour of WHM.
According to some funny divining website that should not be named, average SMN has always been pulling about 50% more than an average WHM in both rDPS and aDPS department. Sooooo if we ignore the parts of SMNs kit that deals high damage, SMN doesn't deal high damage. When comparing damage, you take the average amount of damage across the entire kit over the course of a rotation, not just a handful of spells. Of course Glare is gonna do similar to Ruin III, but it's going to get outdamaged significantly by the summons and demi-summons as well as the oGCDs.

Healers have been neglected for 3 expansions now and this needs to be rectified with the following:
- An engaging DPS kit beyond a nuke and DoT.
- Increased incoming damage so we have more to heal.
- Distinctive playstyles amongst the healers.
- Some nerfs to non-healer heals, we shouldn't be replaceable.
SMN should be hitting as hard as PCT.
As a healer main in this game for nigh on 14 years all I can say is that I’m tired. My role has been eroded of complexity and expression for 3 expansions. I’ve watched the tanks do my role for me for 2 expansions and my feedback and critiques continue to fall on deaf ears.
I have no idea who modern healers are designed for but I know now it’s not me. This is the first expansion I’m truly considering dropping the healer role and not returning, so if that was the goal- congratulations I guess
