It kiiinda makes sense to go over the scales but imo if they wanted it like this the blush on the scales should look rougher to match the scaly texture instead of being a smooth continuous smudge like it is here.

Realistically, it wouldn't make sense, since blushing is caused by an increase in temperature and bloodflow below the skin. Scales wouldn't be as translucent.
That said, the style of FFXIV is deeply rooted in manga and anime, and those mediums by convention put blush above anything really.
Oh no, I meant makeup blush! Actual flush would work that way sure, I just assumed this was just powder because it's on so thick.
It was actually like this pre-DT as well as someone who mained F AuRa Face 2 for like 2 years. I believe tattoos also go over your scales. I guess this is more like 'makeup blush', but it looks weird regardless....mine was Raen and I never went for smth that pink so it wasn't really noticable.
I was looking through old Screenshot to find pictures of my character before the update, found one of my favorite shot from the end of Endwalker and recreated it now after the update. I feel it shows well how much she's changed.
I really miss how her eyes and mouth looked before Dawntrail.
Her neutral expression now has very deep corners of the mouth, as if pouting, but too feminin and looking concerned and sad![]()
At certain angle you can see a very deep ridge around her eyes, making her looking VERY old and tired
Compare with screenshot before (she really looked so freaking cool and determined without those mouth corners and extra feminin features...
I really don't want to log in anymore until this is fixed T T

Wanted to add in I took the time to make a video showing the DT movements for comparison to pre-DT.

This face had these ridges (tear troughs) before Dawntrail. In Dawntrail, they are visible in a greater variety of lighting conditions, but they are not new to this face. If you zoom in very close, you can even see the green light catching on the one on the far side of her face, in one of your own pre-Dawntrail screenshots:
I am very thankful that these particular features were left intact, and I don’t want to lose them. To me, they’re beautiful, and an important part of my character’s face. Or, to put it more bluntly, they’re one of the few remaining things that help this face look like it could belong on a person, instead of an uncanny photoshop-creature. The tear troughs may look odd on occasion, depending on facial expression, angle, and lighting conditions, but the same holds true for every facial feature.
Left one is DT version, and right one is old version. There are serval points that make me realized big different between the new model is no my original character:1. The size and shape of the eyes(old one seen like much higher) 2. the length of shadow for the nose(new one is much longer than old one, the old one just a little rise up ) 3. the shape of the face(new one looks more flat) 4. the shape of lips
There are images that I can provide see more significant different between nose.I miss my old model, especially when I try to make my new portraits in game.
BTW I am plainlala, jaw type4, eyeshape type 4,iris large, eyebrows type 2, nose type 2, mouth type 1, ear shape type 4.
