Then why did you create a whole thread about content creators as though trying to validate your opinion because it mirrors theirs?
Because it's relevant. Often, content creators have a bigger influence with the devs and are used as a barometer for the state and reception of the new content.
It's not about us, individual players, forming opinions based on those of content creators.
It's about a large and particularly attention-grabbing data point for SE.
I mean, this is kinda obvious if you put two and two together.
what exactly is your goal here other than to try and imply the criticism of Dawntrail is unreasonable, and implying the criticism only exists because people parrot content creators, when that is not the case?
Preach managed to convince Yoshi-P to get the dev team working on implementing player chat bubbles, so yup content creators have way more sway than the entire forum combined![]()
This comment is basically my thoughts as well.
DT is a state play where the actors have specific one dimensional roles and just wait till Wuk Lamat enters the stage.
There are real struggles anywhere and if there are they are so quickly resolved that it’s just not realistic. The tribes are also shown as incredible stupid just so Wuk Lamat and Co can look great.
The PeluPelu have no problems at all.
The not Vanuvanu have no discourse and the biggest problem is them forgetting their festival (which is really tasteless telling for a tribe that centers around that) —> solved by just doing the festival
The goblins are having trouble with contract workers —> apparently it’s enough to just look how one craftsman works you know, that what is their actual job.
The giants have no conflict. The renegade group isn‘t even an afterthought for them and when there appears to be conflict and a fight between them and Wuk Lamat an enemy birds just so happens to deus ex into the situation just because.
The Hrothgar have some tension with the Mamool ja but nothing comes of it. All in a sidequests and even there it goes nowhere.
The Mamool Ja are actually interesting… until the problem is solved in 10 minutes because they are apparently to stupid to do the abc of agriculture… as agriculture people.
The Wild West zone has a bit with the bandits but only because the sheriff is incompetent.
The Miqo‘te have some tension stingiest with the train guys… until they just have a 5 min talk.
Solution 9 pfft.
The „rebels“ are actually not doing anything. They could have just been some Nonamed because all they do is give us some info we could have gotten ourselves while…playing the game.
The story is so sanitized that every interesting thing is solved in a few minutes.
Compare that to like you said Ishgard, UlDah (still brewing), Limsa (only now starting to get better).
Even Elpis had some form of conflict between the Ancients. Heck even the Ascians where more divided.
I really wonder what the POINT of the expansion story is.
Why are we even there as players?
For me it’s just a big, long introduction of Wuk Lamat in the hopes the players would love her.
Edit:
At the content creator thing.
People look for other people with the same opinion as themselves. It gives a feeling of „yeah I am not alone in this“.
Content creators are
A: easy to get the opinion of
B: are more likely to have their opinion be heard.
The other thing is that many of the content creators share the same or a real similar opinion on the story.
I think that is actually worth pointing out.
There is a reason those people are invited for interviews and media tours.
They are nothing more then the new low rank „stars“ in this age of you like it or not (I also hate it and the whole twitch meta but I see it for what it is).
They also DO HAVE an impact on the devs.
The better dungeons and promises for gameplay change or having more tondo than on EW are not coming from the good heart of Yoshida as much as he wants to sell it as their own idea.
It’s coming because Content creators were starting to critique that stuff and you know… PR.
You can all say however much you want to „I don‘t give a damn about them“ or „why should I care for the story“. That doesn‘t change reality that they ARE important for the game and the devs.
It’s 2024 they are here and will continue to stay here.
I don‘t like the content creators as much as you do (I have a long way to work and nothing better to do on the way then listening to them or podcasts or audio books) but come on.
Edit 2:
Holy wall of text…

I don't know much about Zepla other than she dunked on Pyromancer so she's good in my book.
What in the game exists solely because of content creator influence?Because it's relevant. Often, content creators have a bigger influence with the devs and are used as a barometer for the state and reception of the new content.

We don't need content creators to know that Dawntrail sucks. Besides, our content creators in general for FF are pretty lame anyway.
