Do we really need a new hyper advanced civilization in every expansion now?

One thing I was saying a lot in the lead-up to Dawntrail (and I still wish had played out that way) is that Solution Nine didn't have to be dropped out of an alternate reality to be introduced into the game.

I think it would have been more conceptually interesting for it to just be a civilisation that sprung up around a location that is naturally lightning-aspected in the same way that (as it works in Etheirys) a desert is fire-aspected or swamp is water-aspected, and just coincidentally has architecture that reads as "high tech" to us but isn't viewed as anything special by the surrounding cultures. I would have preferred that to the grim dystopia we got.

It's also important to remember the Allagans were one of the longest lasting civilizations on the planet, they had PLENTY of time to develop as they did, even without Ascian intervention they had mastered space faring vessels and complete aetheric mastery that enabled them to just swap body parts for the fun of it, not to mention Alexandria has (as far as I'm aware) existed and developed electrope technology for longer than the Ascian's were around, their shard had a super advanced flow of time compared to the source.

I don't remember if they gave exact time periods, but with how time works on the reflections and how it can randomly be slower or faster on them, it is very much possible that they've had Electrope and been using it and developing on it for longer than the entire Allagan Empire existed on The Source before being destroyed by an Umbral Calamity.

Allagan empire ended at the 4th Calamity.

The Lalas from Aloalo Islands found that Dimensional key the WOL obtained at the end of MSQ, used it to escape the 5th calamity from it's destructive wipe out. They were using techniques called Arcanima and after taking the portal to Alexandria, their Arcanima merged with the Ore in the unspecified Reflection creating Electrope. The Lalas were named Malalias.
