Yeah. For as much as I don’t like Wuk Lamat and the pacing issues…
The treatment of my WoL was the worst for me.
I think the last time I was that furious at a writing butchering a character was Metroid other M.

The whole time the WoL seemed like an obstacle or thorn in the writers side. One they had to include because it was an MMO but actually hated because it stood in the way of their FFXIV-2 story with MC Wuk Lamat.

It was such a disregard for that character I really cannot understand how one can be ok with that „mentor role“ or not.

Yoshida himself said once that the story moves when the WoL moves and now it’s just disregarded completely.
Who did they think they’d make happy with that?
Did they really think everyone would universally love Wuk Lamat and be ok with having their character benched?
How out of touch have they gotten at some points?

I understand having them take a step back or being more in the background but they still NEED to be the central focus for US the player.
We don‘t experience the story through Wuk Lamat but them.

Man I‘m already getting angry again. I really hope there is a long, long meeting at square right now.

Five expansions, with G'raha and Y'shtola...still no diagetic clan letter dropping. No dialog option to say "Raha" or "Shtola" - though we have been to the end of reality together.
One expansion with Wuk Lamat....already allowed tocall her Lamaty.

This is so sad to see. I've been remembering things YoshiP said in the past and it seems like it was all thrown away. Remember the GDC "Behind the Realm Reborn" presentation?
All of CBU3 should watch that again.



Also, YoshiP always used to talk about how he wanted to keep the trust of 1.0 players that liked the game and not allienate or abandon them, and yet Dawntrail reads like it's written to a very different audience all of a sudden.

Dislike Wuk Lamat more than Stormblood Lyse and didn't think that would be possible. She demands so much attention and it really takes away from every other character in the expansion to the point where the Dawntrail story is centered around Wuk Lamat.

Hopefully she fades into obscurity going forward. No one I've spoken with wants anything to do with her anymore.

Couldn't disagree more. Don't think she is the most amazing character in the world, but there is nothing bad about her character, the writing or the voice acting. People just want to hate without any real justified reason.

It felt from the start to me. Their heads are still shaped like a human girl's, just with the (too short) muzzle and ears plugged in. They really didn't try to go all out with the beast race thing like with Hrothgar heads.

It's not difficult to see how Lyse would be considered better. Lyse may not be to a lot of people's liking, but at least she acts like a real person. Wuk Lamat acts like an idealized hero that would never exist.

If the WOL wasnt resistant to primal influence, I would have said that they were a Primal since everyone around them seems brainwashed.
