Finally good to see someone with sense, OP.

While I wouldn't rate the story on par with Shadowbringers or anything, it was still yalms better than Stormblood. People were spoiled by a huge climax and their expecting this story to top the last one, but you simply can't do that. They needed to de-escalate the story and bring it back to a baseline, which they did quite well. The reason the warrior of light takes a passenger seat (back seat is not accurate) is precisely to do that.

If you ask the people saying it's boring, bad, they can't actually point to anything specific about the DT story that is bad except that they didn't like Wuk Lamat.

People literally write essays to break down their criticism across this forum, on Reddit and many YT videos. But no, it's only because "they don't like Wuk Lamat lel". You're absolutely delusional.

I didn't mind the MSQ beside the cowboy zone. This is surprising because that aesthetic is right up my alley, but it was a weak section of the MSQ for me, but I chalk that up to being about a region and removing the only party member fitting to be placed into that section. I'm not gonna lie to you when it was left up to me to care about this region I didn't.

But overall, I would put it above EW but below Stormblood.

So like SHB/HW/SB/DT/EW/ARR is my kinda MSQ order.

I liked it. It's easily a solid 7 for me.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I enjoyed it too. I don't want to compare it to any of the previous expansions as I don't feel it set out to tell the same sort of story as they did.

All I know is that I lost myself in the story that was being told in my downtime from work, and whilst said story was definitely not perfect -and I will concede that there were times I wished Wuk Lamat would step out of the limelight - it was, for me, an enjoyable experience that I didn't/don't regret investing my time into.

i will agree with you about the comparison part. Dawntrail is a completely different story than the holy 5. People who compare it to ARR forget that DT isn't a new WoL change thingie to compare it to ARR.

Well as for myself, I kinda wanted to hear Gulool Ja Ja's last words.

The importance of the resonator was obvious and would have been a prime point to strike at to disable Zoraal Ja.

It was obviously related but they wouldn't necessarily know it can make them stronger or what it was actually doing. Technology is something they aren't as familiar with as we are in real life, since people from Eorzea and Tural specifically are rather primitive.

the two stories didn't belong in the same expansion. They ended up competing against each other for attention and I think that's what has led to the love it/hate it reactions of so many players.

It initially makes you think that with how you go to another place alone but it ends up being all about showing Wuk Lamat's growth into a leader and proving she was better than Zoraal Ja. In a story that is really all about Wuk Lamat's growth, becoming leader was just a part of it and not the end of it.

Beside not really understanding this technology or technology in general (since they're primitive), it happened rather fast and was rather stunning. Like how does this work, what's it doing, how can it actually be stopped? After they restarted the fight, it looked like Gulool Ja Ja was winning, until that changed.
