Only in this case, it's a binary case because we can either have difficulty progression throughout the game or we can not. Anything else would be asking the developers to design the game twice, and that's not even remotely a fair ask. Let them build the game the way that they want and just play it or don't. I chose to play it through all the abysmal design decisions of Shadowbringers and Endwalkers. I could have quit at any time I wanted, and actually did several times. The design is good again, and a small vocal minority should not screw that up because the game no longer caters to no-effort (not even low-effort, straight up non-effort) players.
