I just heard the english dub of the final trial for WL.......dear god, was **ANY** context given for it? It sounds like they are literally just reading out of a script, no energy at all for that kind of situation.

It's possible the voice director had no say in the casting, threw his/her hands in the air upon realizing the actress has no emotional range, and just said "it is what it is."

Honestly, I think the localization team is just lazy or just does things their own way without really listening to the japanese counterpart or listening/seeing what fits. Wuk Lamat's voice has good parts, but its mostly just very very flat and doesn't fit the character.

Honestly this isn't a bad thing. The extremely saccharine or obscenely high pitched female voices in anime is exactly why I cannot watch it subbed and it always has to be dubbed. No idea how ppl can listen to that level of shrillness for hours on end.

People dont look for a reason to hate on the VA, the VA did that by performing extremly poorly while also being like 80% of the Dialogue. The VA being toxic is just the icing on the cake for most people.

People stated multiple times that the VA sounds extremely flat and has no variety in emotions whatsoever. Some also dislike the VAs ''fake accent''. Which btw also doesnt really make sense (same for the bunboy) when the most other and older citiziens sound more fluid. *shrugs*

Some people will just hard defend things even if they are clearly wrong. The voiceacting was terrible. The person was a bad pick in many ways. I think its fair for people to not be happy. We expected quality story for something we paid for. People are trying to blame the director but if someone is given a script (which usually has a blurb on the page about the scene. Not sure if many people have seen one but from the people saying “she didnt how to act it out” i’ll say no.) and cant do it still then all the people involved should acknowledge it.

Nah, the Southern belle for that character was perfect.

Crazy seeing how many people prefer the JP voice acting for Wuk over the English version. JP's sounds very childlike to me. Wuk's English voice fit very well IMO. She's a bit awkward and not so self sure but tries to portray a sense of strong confidence to impress these important people from a foreign land. The JP version felt more appropriate to a smaller, more dainty character.

wuk lamat is like 17 years old or something. she's really young. and the japanese actually had emotions. unlike that flat shitty boring monotone delivery with the horrible fake accent

It's crazy to think were in a time where we must gaslight our ownselves into thinking bad stuff is good let alone name calling to get a false narrative out woo boy. You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become a villian.

Playing the game the game in french, I never paid attention to this whole drama. Yesterday, I saw the "Sphene, listen to me" cinematic in english, and I could not stop laughing. After that I checked a few videos on the net, and if it does the job for casual discussions, as soon as she needs to express more emotion, she is limited. I can see why some people say she lacks range as a voice actress. From what I gathered, it's her first credit as a VA. Some full fledged actors are bad a voicing stuffs despite being good actors. You don't give a role that predominant to a total newbie.
