I'm not sure how people can defend "shpene! listen to me!"

Honestly I had literally no idea who "Sena Bryer" was, or that they were trans. I literally don't give a damn about it. I care about someone's PROFESSIONAL WORK. It was...yeah, it was... lol. It wasn't "bad" per se. It wasn't good. It was "whelming". That's honestly WORST than bad, because bad can be appreciated like the ever memed on "The Room" lol. "Whelming" is forgettable. Bland. Boring. It's worse to be boring and bland because it means that you can just get morphed into the background. Sena sounds like a tall, muscular cat lady with a latin accent. I mean, it sounds fine for the character that she's trying to voice. It's her DELIVERY of her lines that's just so flat and off. It's so devoid of emotion. I want you to seriously listen to some of Emet Selch's voice lines or Graha Tia during Shadowbringers. You can FEEL the venom, hatred, and loathing with despair in Emet's lines in phantom Amaurot. You can feel the pain in Graha Tia's voice and the faint hope when he talks to you outside of Mount Gulg. Most of the Scions also have a good emotional depth to their voice and delivery.
With Wuk it's just like "yeah she's there...she's one of the characters of all time..." She doesn't have any sort of...emotional presence. She's a "video game character". She sounds artificial, like an alien trying desperately to convince you that she's an earthling.
Having played myself in JP, and my wife in EN, and listening to both renditions of Wuk Lamat, it's extremely apparent how bad the EN version was.
It was like listening to a fan dub.
She sounds completely out of place like she belongs in a different game. Everyone is delivering a certain level of performance. Then you have a performer (who just so happened to be the main character of the expansion, so they have a lot of lines) turning in a subpar performance (again, when compared to everyone else).
I don't know how anyone can objectively play through the EN MSQ and not be underwhelmed by the VA performance.
She's meant to sound unintelligent and informal. I think she hit the nail on the head.
True. In JP voice Wuk Lamat is more expressive. It doesnt solve the problem with bad writings but EN voice makes it all worse.Having played myself in JP, and my wife in EN, and listening to both renditions of Wuk Lamat, it's extremely apparent how bad the EN version was.

Yes, anyone who doesn't agree with you and speaks up about Wuk Lamat's English voice is clearly part of a circlejerking echo chamber. Especially if they bring up plenty of the evidence you demanded but can't deny validity of.
...Anyways,

Wuk Lamat's personality and characterisation come off as the genki girl/shonen protagonist the writer seems to have wanted her to be, in anything but English.
Have to agree with you on that - bad is better than bland. Remember the campiness of ARR and its Lahabrea maniacal laughter followed by Gaius' dead serious line of "Such devastation... This was not my intention.". It was bad enough to be memorable, clear enough to give Gaius some much needed depth, and I was happy to have experienced it with 8 people who memed along like watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I don't see the 'speen lissen to me' yelling in lower case to reach a similar status because it's just so forgettable. It was...yeah, it was... lol. It wasn't "bad" per se. It wasn't good. I will disagree on that opinion, however. Wuk Lamat's accent fluctuates heavily throughout the MSQ, and to me it sounds as if Sena is trying too hard to layer an unfamiliar accent on top of an already strained voice, thereby unable to lend much emotion or depth to the performance. Perhaps casting someone who can actually speak Spanish/Portuguese (just an example) would have been a better choice.
Yeah, it is a circlejerk echo chamber thread
Also I don't think you even know what evidence I was asking for at this point or who I was responding to. You just jumped in guns blazing looking to take a dig at someone who does not agree with you looking for any reason to hate a VA outside of their performance.
If you had read any of my contributions to this thread it would have been clear I have provided more than enough objective reasons to complain about Sena Bryer's performance. The miriad of other reasons related to who she is a person can be ignored, and it would still be a bad performance. Stop sealioning, stop the ad hominem. Please try contributing to the thread in good faith rather than flinging mud at people who don't agree with you, accusing them of what you are actively attempting to do.Yeah, it is a circlejerk echo chamber thread

And will justly be ignore as they have no relevance to the thread as well and just come off as looking for a reason to attack/hate her, the person and not the voice acting (like, have you actually seen anything Sena has done outside of just a few cherry picked tweets?). Weird how that's been my goal the whole time, hey?
Also, the bad performance is your opinion, which is fine. Much like how my opinion being "she was fine, despite some moments" which I blame entirely on the voice director and what VA's in general have to deal with (literally just a script. Don't even get to see the scene, hear dialogue of other languages to get an idea. Entirely reliant on the director and if they do not build the scene, then you get awkward moments) is fine.
Also, Thancred and Y'shtola sounded weird too, right? Like the scene before the 95 dungeon (I think? Could be more moments) Thancred just did not sound like... well, Thancred.
