Unpopular opinion - I like Dawntrial expansion.

Sorry. I came in the thread BEFORE you to simply tell Fudo his viewpoint was refreshing, AFTER which you slip in, pat him on the back with a ‘Nice opinion, Buuuut…’ and then proceed to tell him why expressing appreciation might not be beneficial. THATS what I jumped on.

You can attempt to demonize me for calling you out. Feel free. But when I hear a statement like “You are not doing the developers any service by telling them “Well I think you did a great job because I enjoyed it.”, after they simply express enjoyment for something they personally enjoyed, I’ll play Devil’s Advocate in a heartbeat and jump allll over that. Unapologetically.

You know, I should have called you out on this sooner, but you are twisting it as if I am having a problem with Fudo. But did you look to which post my reply actually followed? It was not his. It was yours.



This is what set the tone that I was responding to.

As I already told Fudo, I am happy that he was happy, because then at least someone was happy. But you came into his thread and attempted to change it into place for mocking the very valid complaints of other people. In fact, every single post I have seen from you today in several threads has been in the spirit of telling people to shut up and declaring you own lulz. Sir, I have wasted enough of my daily post quota countering you.

I can see the passion everyone of us have for the online Final Fantasy version. Be it FF11 or FF14. Opinions are fine and I'm not offended by anyone. I hardly visit the forum as my free time are all spend inside Eorzea.

DT had writing issues. And I didn't think it was as well written as SHB or EW. But I enjoyed the main story more than SB or ARR, and had a fun time going along for the ride. I could pick apart things that didn't work for me but still enjoyed going through it. Partly because there were moments and characters I liked despite the flaws in writing. And because the dungeons and trials were top notch.

I appreciate the zones, the music, the battle content.
But the story is hot garbage and Hiroi has never been a good writer, sorry not sorry.

I thought the story was bumpy but just okay overall. I am interested in seeing where it goes in the future though, so I'll give it that at least.

By the end of the MSQ, I was getting tired of the typical cutscene gauntlet. That being said, the fight design has been my favorite of any expansion so far, I love the updates made to my main jobs (Dancer and Warrior), the soundtrack is great (Smile is better as a standalone track than an ingame one, but I've mostly enjoyed everything else), and the story content aside from the MSQ has been on par with previous expansions. I'm really looking forward to the Arcadion storyline continuing and the beast tribes.

The biggest downside of DT for me was the relegation of the WoL to a passive figure after we finally became active in late SB-EW. I get the idea behind a mentor arc, but, to compare with FFX, we became Lulu (or Wakka), when we should have been Auron. Given how DT ended, though, I can see this problem not being an issue moving forward, so I'm still looking forward to the 7.1 MSQ.
