We got Mahjong - Could we please get poker? (Request)

In the spirit of embracing the East, the Dev team put in Mahjong.
Now that we are in the new world I'd appreciate a similar nod to the West.
With some Texas Holdem Poker. (Shaaloani Holdem Poker)

It's all I can think about when in Shaaloani. It's the quintessential cowboy game.

I'd love to see it a suit of cards in the Final Fantasy style.

Hopefully, others feel the same.

And it doesn't have to be real money, Gil or even MGP. Just make it chips and how you place is the MGP reward you get at the end. So if you're the last person standing you can win a big pot of MGP like iunno 10,000 MGP if you exit first you get less.

No Gambling is required.

Yoshi has talked about this before and it's not possible as the ratings board would likely consider it gambling and it would affect the games rating. I believe this was talked about at either a live letter or one of the fanfests, but I can't find it right now. The only thing I can find is from an official blog post regarding mahjong:

Those were his words! FFXIV and... mahjong? Well, this was a request from the director and producer himself, so naturally the dev. team began to look into it. It required a bit of extensive investigation though, as FFXIV is a global game and regulations differ across regions.

Sure, it may seem like a harmless addition, but different countries and cultures have different perceptions on games that could be considered "gambling". This is why Yoshi-P's original idea to implement poker in FFXIV hasn't come to fruition yet, but he's thinking about putting it in one way or another...

When we found that we could indeed add mahjong to the game without legal or rating concerns, the UI team got very excited - "We'll do it!", they shouted. (Or so Project Manager U tells us!)

I just want them to add lump sum of MGP for Mahjong based on game lenght. It would be really nice way to grind MGP.

I'm hoping maybe they can find some work around for it though. If Mahjong can make it hopefully we could also get Poker.

tbh i find it slightly insane how the pokemon game corner (which only used in-game pokemon money which you could easily grind from trainer battles + the amulet coin) was banned but mobile pay-to-win gacha games that require REAL CURRENCY are allowed. and before anyone says it's because it's a children's game: roblox exists and has similar predatory practices

almost like the "no gambling" thing for video games is just virtue signaling

Gacha actually makes the publishers money. So they'll bribe as many lawmakers as possible to keep that printing machine going. Putting a fun little minigame in some otherwise popular game that would be bought with, or without, the minigame? Nah nobody cares.
