So, basically "I suck at these very specific things!" *gets hired for those very specific things, and proceeds to suck at those very specific things*

Why hire that?! And for that matter, if you have the self awareness that you suck at things like that, why accept that role?

The more I see from this trash, and this expansion, the angrier I get. Because god dammit, the sheer amount of people that signed off on this, that thought THIS was acceptable... Every single one of them should lose their jobs, because they clearly are not capable of being competent at them.

Thats DIE-Hiring. They literally dont care about anything but themselves and their agenda.

But it is simple why the VA accepted.
1. Having a huge Role in something not only gives you experience but expecially is a great reference for future jobs.
2. The VA doesnt care much for the Game


BTW I dont know if its just me but why does Wuk Lamat sounds like she has a heavier accent than the others despite being younger? Doesnt make much sense to me especially in the context

I know it is, just like I know it's the reason why SE's currently in the dumpster with all these other dog water games they've been pushing out. I just... It disappoints me to see that people like this exist. That they're willing to take jobs they know they suck at, and destroy something that thousands of people enjoy.

Which is actually kind of dumb, Cause he could easily still have been a Othard Viera who comes with us to Tural because he's been there multiple times as his job as a Gleaner, The accent thing is putting me in the mind that CBU3 no longer cares as much that their lore make sense and changes can be made on the fly to do whatever they want or need.

I only follow Viera lore peripherally, so just curious--is there a reason his accent couldn't be explained by his father? If males typically leave the village, it doesn't seem like it would be too much of a stretch for one to end up in Shaaloani. I guess lack of any mention of him could imply he wasn't present/important, but then Erenville's not exactly forthcoming about his personal life and DT really raised more questions than answers about him for me, so I could easily see that being written in as part of his connection to the 'old world,' unless there's something I'm missing.

I think the reason why it can't really be explained that way is simply the fact that it's purely specualtive because we've just got nothing on his father. He could be from Othard or he could be from Tural. As a headcanon it's definitely a possible explanation but afaik nothing in the official game hints at it.

Though personally even if his father was from Othard it doesn't really convince me because Erenville has clearly grown up in an environment that's fully permeated by an American English accent (and surrounded by areas with several middle and southern American accents). Even if his (assumed Othard) father was around it just doesn't make sense to me that somebody who is exposed to the Shaaolani accent 24/7 since birth, amongst others by his very mother, doesn't pick that one up instead of his father's. (Children of parents who migrated to other places often speak the new place's native language/accent perfectly even though their parents may have a different accent.)
Since Shetona customs seem to be different from Eorzean/Othard vieras' customs (just like Tural Hroth customs differ from their Othard/Eorzean counterparts) it also doesn't seem like male vieras leave their homes once they come of age and are mentored by an older male viera or live in sex-segregated societies. Erenville's home was an average mixed village where Shetona of all ages lived (like one of Erenville's male Shetona friends who seemed to share his age). So I don't think this could be a possible explanation either.

I guess the most "likely" one is that he adopted the accent to blend in when he was in Sharlayan and just completely forgot how to speak his old accent...even though I think that's quite a contrived (and not necessarily realistic) explanation...

For those from Latin America, if you don't enjoy the representation from the VA as Wuk from the game then it's ok to call it out. It's ok to ask her to step down from the role so someone who can better represent your culture can take up the role. It's not hate-targeting to ask for Sena to step down, because she herself has done it before and believe that to be the case as well. Sena is white, and faking an accent that your people find offending so it's fine if you have to call it out.







People should understand your want for representation for a role that should've been thought about more from Kate to not misrepresent your country, culture, and people. I don't think SQX ignoring the outcry of Latin America will do them well, especially since the role was taken by a white woman. To our knowledge, Wuk Lamat isn't trans as well, and gender does matter a lot to Sena and Kate. Sena also can't fake the accent to represent your culture, and seems to break the American accent in, so by her word it's ok because she's unfit for the role.

On a personal note, I really hope that the reason the Scions got barely any lines this expansion wasn't due to their English Voice counterpart being white. Kate, Sena, and Luis seem like they REALLY have a problem with white people, which shouldn't be an issue that goes on to affect the rest of the world, especially those of us in Asia and Latin America or just those that use the JPN/FRE/GER voices. I love rewatching the story and hearing Yuichi Nakamura and Ai Kayano, so I don't want their roles to be diminished if it's because Kate has an issue with the British VAs.

For the X/twitter stuff, I had some stuff leftover. You can get A LOT of stuff if people have been using the thing for like 10 years, assuming you are able to grab them.

I was watching someone stream their first playthrough of the Dawntrail MSQ, and it made me realize that Sena's voice is now forever cemented into the story experience of FFXIV.

Would it not be the right decision to highlight her problematic inclusion in the English localisation of FFXIV to the devs in its own topic? Other actors have been removed or replaced for far less hateful remarks than the ones she has voiced publicly. Why should she be protected from such scrutiny?

It's perhaps just as effective as starting a change.org petition, but at least the immediate problem of her presence in Dawntrail is addressed in the official forums.

From the stuff she says, she seems to have a very poor character, and toxic is really just the right word to describe her. Of course, the fact that her VA work and delivery just were plainly bad in DT makes the whole thing even more frustrating.
I don't have any hope they will recast Wuks VA...but they certainly would not be in the wrong to do it.

It's appalling behavior. She stands on a soapbox of various victimhoods (I saw she calls herself disabled too) while spewing hate at other groups.
