Is the "One Steppe at a Time V" achievement reward a bit cruel to put up?

Just wish this mount was obtainable by any other means, i'm not a fan of pvp, I Just want the mount. I'm on my Third year of this and i'm up to 28 Wins out of 100. It just hurts cause i'm trying my best but i'm no closer to winning than flipping "Heads" on a coin 3 times in a row.

The Odds of winning are just not in your favor, specially now that teams are more randomized. Which is better sure cause one side isn't always dominating and winning. but as a rando that just drops into pvp and doesn't figure out some system like joining as a group my chances of winning feel much worse than 1 in 3.

I have literally won games by fewer points than my Kills minus Deaths earned us. That's not saying that "I'm why we won!" but you could certainly argue that we might not have won if I hadn't been playing that well.

Summoner is completely fine, dude. Megaflare is only 18k damage, Akh Morn is only 12k, and SMN has basically zero impact between Bahamut summonings. If you want to cheese with a 4-man group, you should all play WHM. Four lasers cast together on the same location will instantly kill anything they hit and four people coordinating usage of poly can be very, very effective.

For solo play, AST is very strong because, well... it's AST. NIN and BRD are also very strong choices.

Honestly, there is no point discussing this with you if you think "summoner is fine in FL". There is something very wrong in the way you are interpreting the game. Look at the damage and kills table at the end and look at which job gets picked by premades trying to boost their wins. Also, there is an obvious reason as to why Summoner's lb is considerably more effective than WHM's in Frontlines. Can you really not tell what it is?

the achievement isn't going anywhere (unlike GARO which will have a definitive end date) so just come back to it whenever.

At least the map is half decent when compared to something like the one with droids in middle, that one should be flat out removed from the pool for being so bad.

I still don't have the mount and I think I have 2 more hiatus' under my belt where I gave up playing all together cause I can't shake this stupid fixation on getting that mount. I'm still no closer really, barely a third of the way there and its now been... over 5 years since Onsal Hakair came out? the Pvp feels silly and balanced to an extent in that anyone can win. but YOU being the winner is less than a coin flip. And statistically you can simply get 2nd or 3rd every time you ever play this and make absolutely no progress towards that mount.

And statistically you can simply get 2nd or 3rd every time you ever play this and make absolutely no progress towards that mount.

Isn't it simply a question of volume? You play enough games, your expectation of 33% simply gets you the required number of wins. I can see that if you really want a thing and dislike what you have to do to obtain that thing, it creates a conflict, but this is also why I've never owned a Ferrari.

The trouble is that for a long time my experience felt like it was far worse than 33%. wish I could have the stats on just my onsal hakair attempts but my other dips into frontlines has skewed what data I can see.
having several games in a row and just barely failing is so frustrating, specially since I don't exactly want to be there in the first place. I just have no other way to get that mount aside from pushing this metaphorical boulder uphill.

I'm sure most of this is in my head, which is obvious since the only reason I want the mount is cause i'm fixated on getting something that references my favorite game in the series and characters (FFT the mount is another construct 7/8 reference sept its a suit)

Upside I think i'm getting a bit better. I'm sniping backline people as Machinist when they get low and trying very hard not to die myself, so hopefully i'm not making my teams score worse at the very least.
And whats more my Bf started helping me, which I have to say having someone to do it with really helps get you out of your head if you find the task grueling.

I'd suggest that if you're trying at all in FL you immediately become better than average.
