In case you missed it in the last 1000 pages of the last 50 threads: Music good, encounters good, MSQ bad, graphics upgrade causes trouble for some.
Why don't you just return to do whatever it is you did before the expansion?

I didn't have any problems with eye strain (and I'm wearing glasses), but I also took some time setting everything up before I started to play. I didn't play the MSQ or new jobs yet, but I can say I like the graphical update a lot.

I think my eyestrain came from fidddling with the settings. But thankfully I was able to resolve it.

My main issue is Glare though I'm also affected by some of the lighting changes seemingly, if they let me turn Glare back off I'll be happy

But at the least they're looking into res scaling blur and that gives me hope

Switching to a combination of Maximum Settings and NIVDIA DLSS fixed my eye strain problems.

While I didn't get eye strain I was noticing some weird graphical issues particularly with the grass in the distance when the fps is not capped to 60.

Friend, that's exactly what I did.

What I didn't expect, was how another major franchise in my absence ripped off some XIV systems and somehow did them better in some ways. And when I say better, I mean 'not hostile to the players'.

SE has ideas that are good enough that other mmos blatantly rip them off, yet they leave so much opportunity for those other mmos to do it better because they are literally hostile to their players enjoying an experience. Part of it is our fault, for whining incessantly about trivial content 'needing' to be 'social' (and the word social is doing a HEAVY lift when describing the average roulette queue here), but some of it I think is just grind culture.

In short, I'm just taking a break, will maybe do small snippets of the story in bursts and hopefully get through it before the next xpac, but I'm not going to just shut up because you have this delusion that folks who don't like one particular thing should have to give up EVERYTHING about it, or shouldn't try to guide the devs to making their favorite IP better.
