Seriously lol. Imagine if instead of that lengthy "redemption" Gaius got (a bit questionable if he's properly redeemed too, but let's ignore that for a second) the game showed us a cutscene of his daddy being mean to him. Then he'd cry and then just a second later, everybody would be giving him hugs and telling him what a good boy he actually is.
