I've made just under 1 million Gil in two days from selling the new materia from hunt trains, that's cool I guess :/
But Gil is worthless, so what are some actual things I enjoyed?
There's good parts of the story for one. The entire Western area was interesting, the instanced combat with NPC's was cool, and the final scene with Arenvile and his mother almost brought me to tears, I can count the amount of times a game has brought/almost brought me to tears on one hand.
New music is cool, I find the main dungeon boss music a bit disappointing, but the rest is solid. Odd thing was, I didn't see Soken in the credits for audio, but I think I missed him, no way he didn't compose some music.
With all the futuristic stuff, the glam pool for high tech glams is only gonna get bigger and bigger as the patches go on. The 97 dungeon gear is already stand out for being high tech, it's gonna be fun to see all the futuristic stuff people come up with.
My main, GNB, feels great in DT, burst rotation is fluid and satisfying with the huge numbers you bump out. And the DPS of it reflects it, it's the highest tank DPS too.
I hear good things about PCT and VPR too, though I personally haven't played them yet I'm glad others are enjoying them.
The actual dungeons and trails, despite the MSQ snooze fest, are fun and engaging, I suspect it's because we're all min I lvl, but I don't remember previous ones being as unforgiving at launch.
And of course, hunts. New materia is AWESOME for dosh, and you get soooooooo many from all the marks spread across the instances. It'll inevitably tank in price, but even when it does it'll still be profitable due to being BiS. Trains are happening all the time, it's wonderful to see my LS's active again with callouts.
You're not allowed to say anything bad about the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV it's perfect...
...Not
Dude, what are you doing here? Go play! I've been trashing on the MSQ for days now but that shouldn't affect your experience! Dawntrail still has plenty of good going for it.Reading the forums, there seems to be nothing good about DT at all.
Maybe it's my fault reading before even completing DT. But the negativity starts to affect me, and I'm losing motivation. I just landed in Tural, and I immediately feel like logging off, because I've been hearing all bad things about Wuk Lamat.
So is there anything good to look forward to from DT?
The dungeons and boss fights are huge improvements over Endwalker and actually challenge you to pay attention and stay engaged. I had an awesome time doing the first ex trial today with friends! The new music, for the most part, is still really good. The environments are absolutely the most beautiful they've ever been. You can tell they were made with the new lighting in mind. Even the story, for as much crap as I give it, had a few moments I genuinely enjoyed. And now I get to have fun tearing its writing apart with other nerds!
Don't let us color your experience for you! Go play the expansion, then come back and tell me why I'm wrong and that Wuk Lamat is the greatest thing since sliced bread, or join us in the Wuk Lamat Deserves a Shallow Grave camp! Try to enjoy yourself!
I am so far enjoying myself in the msq. I'm about to go into first dungeon and the story so far is decent. I swapped to JP VA for the first time and it's fairly entertaining and helping my Japanese study. I'm taking my time and watching everything and it's pretty lite and fun. Summer vacation and chill gaming experience. Alpaca Comfy and Taco Delicious. Viper is also fun.
Faugh a Ballagh
Clear the way
I disliked the story quite a bit, in part because pacing was bad and especially because I thought that there were some genuinely interesting concepts which were completely neglected and rushed.
However, the dungeons, the worlds, the cities, the music, the mechanics and even the new jobs were all really good to me. Yoshi P said they were going to rethink the formulas to make them less boring, but I honestly felt absolutely nothing changed apart from some cool mechanics, which was a disappointment. But even then, still fun.
Oh, and the two dye system was a huge letdown... I know they're still adding two dyes to a lot of old pieces, but holy... when you have pieces where the second dye only affects one pixel, it just feels like "why even bother". They keep putting band-aids on this very archaic glamour system and it's not enough.

story and wuk lamat are not
the 2 dyes system is fucked up in many pieces
character graphic update ruined many WoLs
There are more humourous scenes than the forum will let you think.
Also
A callback to Alphinauds firewood gathering skills, which got a good chuckle out of me.
